Marc Gasol Hasn't Begun Considering Free Agency

Mar 24, 2015 2:50 PM

Marc Gasol will be one of the most highly coveted free agents in the offseason and will receive interest from the New York Knicks.

Gasol and the Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Knicks by 21 points at Madison Square Garden on Monday.

Gasol was asked if he'd consider the Knicks.

“I haven’t put any time in it,” said Gasol. “You guys know how hectic an NBA season is.”

Spurs Expected To Pursue Marc Gasol If Duncan, Ginobili Retire

Mar 20, 2015 10:56 AM

The San Antonio Spurs are prepared to pursue Marc Gasol should Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili decide to retire after the season.

“It depends on what Tim and Manu and everyone there does,” one Western Conference executive told Sporting News. “But if they’re going, the Spurs are not going to step back and rebuild, no one thinks that. The understanding is Gasol would be their top target.”

Gasol has indicated that he'd like to re-sign with the Memphis Grizzlies.

According to sources, Gasol would likely only leave the Grizzlies for a team that gives him a better shot at a championship.

“They tend to fly under the radar on this kind of thing, then pop up and make the George Hill trade or almost get Jason Kidd,” one general manager said. “With their situation, you’d expect that to be the case again. If it is not Gasol, it will be a trade for a draft pick, something on draft night, it will be someone you’re not expecting. It’s not an organization that has gotten where it is without being prepared.”

Tony Allen, Nick Calathes Didn't Have Physical Confrontation

Mar 4, 2015 1:43 PM

Tony Allen has been suspended one game by the Memphis Grizzlies following an altercation with teammate Nick Calathes in practice.

Sources claim that the confrontation did not rise to a "physical" level and that the suspension for Allen is largely because he waved off attempts from coaches to calm him down.

JaMychal Green Signing Three-Year Deal With Grizzlies

Mar 1, 2015 1:43 PM

JaMychal Green has agreed to terms on a three-year contract with the Memphis Grizzlies, league sources told RealGM.

Green completed his second 10-day contract with the Grizzlies on Saturday night, and the two sides reached a deal for the remainder of the season guaranteed and two additional years.

As one of the best performers in the NBA Development League this season, Green averaged 23 points and 10.7 rebounds in 20 games for the Austin Spurs. Over three games with the Grizzlies, the 6-foot-8 Green has scored eight points and grabbed five rebounds in 13 minutes of action.

Green joined the Grizzlies on Feb. 2 as a free agent. He previously appeared in four games with the San Antonio Spurs on a 10-day contract.

Out of Alabama, Green went unselected in the 2012 NBA Draft before signing free-agent deals with the Spurs and Los Angeles Clippers in consecutive summers. The 24-year-old solidified himself as a viable NBA player in the July summer league and preseason play.
