Jarell Martin To Undergo Surgery On Foot, Out For Season

Apr 22, 2016 3:28 PM

Jarell Martin will undergo a procedure to alleviate soreness in his left foot, the team announced today. Martin will miss the remainder of the 2016 NBA Playoffs and is expected to make a full recovery.

Martin originally underwent surgery on Sept. 3, 2015 to repair a left foot fracture sustained one day earlier in a collision with another player during a workout. A follow-up procedure had been previously scheduled for the offseason, but after Martin experienced recent soreness in the foot, it was determined the best course of action for Martin and the organization was to address the discomfort immediately.

Martin was the 25th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft.

He has appeared in each of Memphis’ first two postseason games during the Western Conference First Round against San Antonio and averaged 4.5 points and 3.5 rebounds in 23.0 minutes.

Matt Barnes: We're Coming To Gunfight With Some Spoons

Apr 20, 2016 11:49 AM

The Memphis Grizzlies have fallen 0-2 to the San Antonio Spurs in their first round series, losing Game 2 by a final score of 94-68.

“We’ve got to roll the dice a little bit. We’ve got to play small, play fast. We're coming to a gunfight with some spoons,” Matt Barnes said. “We’ve got to do something to try to switch this up at home next game. It’s very frustrating.”

Barnes is 4-for-18 from the field so far in the series.

“You can credit their defense a little bit,” Barnes said, “but you’ve got to put the onus on us to make shots.”

The Grizzlies have been decimated by injuries this season.

“I just want to go down swinging. I don’t think we’re doing that,” Barnes said. “At home, we’ve got to come up with something amazing.”

Mike Conley Jr. Out For Rest Of Season

Apr 4, 2016 7:42 PM

Mike Conley Jr. has essentially been ruled out for the remainder of the season by the Memphis Grizzlies.

Conley was re-evaluated last week by team doctors and it was determined it is not in his interest to return until the 16-17 season.

Conley still walks with a limp and experiences soreness in his injured Achilles, which requires a walking boot. Conley hasn't played since March 6th.

Conley will be a free this offseason.
