The Lakers are considered the favorites to sign Jose Calderon if he is amnestied by the Raptors to sign Steve Nash, according to sources.

Calderon would have to clear waivers through the amnesty process before he is free to choose his next team.

But if he does become a free agent, Calderon would then look to sign with the Lakers.

Sources say Calderon would also have interest in joining Luis Scola wherever he ends up if he is traded.

The Heat and Spurs are also intriguing to Calderon.

Ronny Turiaf has elected not to pick up his player option with the Heat to become an unrestricted free agent, according to his agent.

Turiaf signed with the Heat after being bought out by Denver in March.

Chris Bosh has withdrawn from the United States' Olympic team due to a strained abdominal muscle.

Bosh suffered the injury during Miami's second round series against the Pacers and didn't return until midway through the Eastern Conference Finals against the Celtics.

The Heat enter the offseason comfortable with their production at the point guard position.

Mario Chalmers and Norris Cole take the vast majority of minutes at the position.

"We feel good with our point guard position, because we don't need a real prototypical point guard that needs the ball all the time," said Riley.

Pat Riley plans to continue in his role as president of the Miami Heat for the foreseeable future, contrary to speculation he may retire.

"I hope it's just the beginning for me, in building this team. I hope this team has a long run," he said. "My job is to keep adding pieces to it."

Chris Bosh’s participation at the London Olympics is uncertain due to an abdominal strain that caused him to miss nine games during the playoffs.

“We’re going to talk about it,’’ Bosh’s agent, Henry Thomas, said. “I’m going to have a conversation (with Bosh on Friday) about it …. We’ll go more in-depth. I’d rather not talk about it until we talk about it.’’

Bosh was ultimately non-committal when speaking to the media earlier this week.

“Right now, that’s a conversation I have to have with the doctors and the trainers,’’ Bosh said about playing in the London. “I knew I wasn’t going to be 100 percent coming into my situation (when he returned from his injury in the playoffs). There was some pain I had to fight through. I think I have to get reassessed. They’re going to tell me what my options are and how we can work things out, and how we can move forward after that day… We’re going to have more conversations and see where it goes.’’

The Miami Heat are expected to pursue Ray Allen in free agency and LeBron James began the recruitment process during the Draft.

James wrote the following on Twitter:

"While watching the Draft my son Bryce ask 'Is Ray Allen gonna play for the Heat'. I said 'I don't know, I hope so'."

The Suns will be serious contenders in the pursuit of Ray Allen, according to sources, even if they are unable to re-sign Steve Nash.

Phoenix will have significant cap space and can pay Allen more than the Heat or Knicks, two teams expected to be in the running him.

Allen was represented by Suns president Lon Babby for most of his career.

Allen has expressed interest in re-signing with the Celtics.

Dwyane Wade has withdrawn from the United States' Olympic team.

Wade will need offseason surgery on his knee.

Sources say Kostas Papanikolaou is receiving attention from several teams at the end of the first round, including the Heat and Thunder.

Papanikolaou is a 21-year-old Greek forward who had a breakout performance in the Euroleague Final Four.

Papanikolaou has two seasons remaining on his deal, but has an affordable buyout that can bring him to the NBA for the 13-14 season.

Al Iannazzone of Newsday reports the Knicks are looking to add a pick with Papanikolaou as the target.
