Bogut 'Not Optimistic' About Latest Ankle Injury

Jan 26, 2012 10:16 AM

Andrew Bogut twisted his left ankle on Wednesday against the Rockets and limped off the court with the help of Bucks trainer Marc Boff.

After the game, Bogut sat in front of his locker with a grimace on his face and a large black boot on his left foot.

"It wasn't good," Bogut said. "I knew when I came down I was in some trouble. Keeping optimistic, everything's fine with the X-ray, but that's to be expected. I know I didn't break a bone.

"But tomorrow's the day of reckoning where I go under the MRI machine and find out my fate.

"I'm not optimistic. With my history of unlucky injuries I'm hoping this one can do me a favor and (go away). Most of my injuries are unfortunate things and this goes in the same boat as that. It's frustrating."

Skiles: Bucks Struggling To Contain Opposing Point Guards

Jan 19, 2012 10:35 AM

The Bucks rank 22nd in opponent field goal percentage, down from sixth in the league last season.

"We've gotten a little loose, a little too spread out," Bucks coach Scott Skiles said. "And then our individual (defense), especially at the point guard spot, we've got to defend that position better.

"Look, the perimeter players in this league are very gifted with the ball and almost all of them are great athletes," Skiles said. "You've got to be on. You've got to be competitive and stay in a stance.

"Your footwork has to be impeccable. What we challenge our guys to do from the first day of camp is guard your guy for three dribbles. If you can do that, we'll get the help there.

"You can't be expected to guard some of these guys when they have such dribble moves. But we're just getting blown right by, not even one (dribble), just straight-line driving. It's something we have to address."

Originally assigned to the Mad Ants on December 29, Hobson averaged 11.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists in three games for Fort Wayne earlier this season. He was recalled back to Milwaukee on January 4.

Skiles Allowing Jennings To Gamble Defensively

Jan 15, 2012 2:38 PM

Buck coach Scott Skiles gives Brandon Jennings the freedom to gamble a bit defensively because of the guard's quick hands.

"You've just got to be smart about it, but I wouldn't equate one (steals) with the other (good defense)," Skiles said.

"He's always had good hands, and I think maybe some of the guys he plays against underestimate him a little bit. If they're a bit too careless with it, he can take it from them.

"I will say this. There are guys who get steals because they're on the weak side, like a LeBron (James) and shoot the gap. But Brandon can actually pick it from a guy who's dribbling the ball, and at this level that's very difficult to do."

Bogut Sidelined With Concussion Symptoms

Jan 14, 2012 6:52 PM

Bucks center Andrew Bogut missed Friday night's game against Dallas because of concussion-like symptoms.

The 7-foot Bogut fell backward and hit the back of his head on the floor while taking a charge during Thursday night's victory over Detroit.

Bucks coach Scott Skiles said Bogut failed a pregame test to check for concussion symptoms and was ruled out in accordance with the league's concussion policy.

"There a new rule on concussion protocol, he couldn't pass the test, so he's out," Skiles said, without elaborating.

Jennings Trying To Put Nash's Advice To Work

Jan 13, 2012 10:43 AM

Brandon Jennings got some friendly advice from two-time NBA MVP Steve Nash, who told him the most important part of being a good NBA point guard is to create plays, especially down the stretch.

"That's something I worked on really hard during the summer, making plays when it counted," Jennings said, "Not always shooting it, but just making plays for everybody and getting the best possible shot."

In his last two games, Jennings is 16-for-28 from the field and 4-for-5 on three-point attempts.

"He's trying to learn a difficult position," Skiles said. "The art of spreading the ball around and having vision, those are gifts very few people have at a high level. Some people have them in the middle of the road and have to work at it. He's working through a lot of things."

Bogut To Miss More Games For Undisclosed Personal Reasons

Jan 6, 2012 10:37 AM

Bucks center Andrew Bogut is expected to miss "a few more games" while he tends to a private matter that has nothing to do with his own health, according to a statement released Thursday by his agent, David Bauman.

"It is important to note that this is not related to Andrew's personal health in any way," Bauman said in a statement. "Andrew appreciates the support of the Bucks, his teammates and his fans, and he expects to be back after a few more games' absence fully prepared to play the game that he loves and 100 percent ready to help the Bucks win games."

Bogut is in his native Australia taking care of what has been described as a personal family matter.
