The Bucks plan to engage Monta Ellis on extension talks during the offseason.

"We are going to talk to Monta about doing an extension this summer," said John Hammond. "We would love to keep him."

Ellis was acquired by Milwaukee along with Ekpe Udoh and Kwame Brown ahead of the trade deadline for Andrew Bogut and Stephen Jackson.

The Rockets have moved up in the draft and now own the No. 12, 16 and 18 picks.

Houston has swapped the 14th pick for the 12th pick with the Bucks while also sending Samuel Dalembert to Milwaukee. The Rockets will receive Jon Leuer, Jon Brockman and Shaun Livingston in addition to the No. 12 pick.

The Rockets could save $4.7 million from their cap if Livingston and Leuer are waived, but a source contends they plan to keep both players.

The Bucks may use  the No. 12 pick to get acquire a shooting guard to complement Brandon Jennings.

"We have needs," Bucks assistant general manager Jeff Weltman said. "We also have Monta Ellis.

"We have multiple needs on our team; we're not good enough. I wish we could say we're just that one spot away from being a championship team. We're not. Size and athleticism at the wing would be a nice piece for us.

"We've got to weigh need vs. talent.”

Weltman said the team wouldn’t hesitate to draft either Jeremy Lamb or Terrence Ross, two of the elite shooting guard prospects who were at the Bucks practice facility Tuesday.

Terrence Ross, Ryan Allen, Charlie Westbrook and Brandon Wood worked out for the Bucks on Tuesday.

Ross could be a pick for Milwaukee with the 12th overall selection.

The Bucks have made a habit of making major deals around the draft.

"We have done this over the last couple years. We've made a major trade at the draft," Hammond said. "And to be honest with you, we're hoping not to do something like that.

"I remember saying (last year), 'We're doing too much of this.' Whatever we can do to improve our team we're going to do. But we've got some pieces we think we can move forward with. We like our team.

"We like Brandon (Jennings) at 1; we like Monta (Ellis) at 2. We like Luc Mbah a Moute. We like Tobias Harris; we like Jon Leuer. We like Drew Gooden; we like Ekpe (Udoh). We like Larry Sanders.

"They're young players; they're good players. They have upside. I hope something like that doesn't happen.

"Once again, it comes back to what is the right thing to do for this organization. If that's the case, we would do it (a trade). But I don't foresee that happening."

Milwaukee owns the No. 12 pick in Thursday's draft.

The Bucks are trying to move up in the draft.

Sources indicate that Milwaukee, in need of frontcourt help, is targeting two players: Andre Drummond and John Henson.

Drummond is expected to be off the board when the Bucks pick 12th, while Henson is slotted to go between 9 and 14.

Brandon Jennings wants to extend his stay in Milwaukee.

“If everything is right, why not? If my agent (Bill Duffy) comes back and says this is what we should do, I’m going to do it,” said Jennings, who is eligible for a contract extension July 1.

Jennings, 22, was asked if he would like to become the face of the Bucks’ franchise.

“Yes, I would,” Jennings said. “At the end of the day, it’s an NBA team. If you asked any guy in the NBA, would you like to be the face of a franchise, I’m sure 80 percent of them would say yes, no matter where they are.”

The Bucks envision John Henson as a power forward capable of playing center in certain situations.

"From my standpoint, I look at him as being able to play a 4 (power forward) and some 5 (center). You don't have that many traditional back-to-the-basket centers in the NBA,” Bucks director of scouting Billy McKinney said after Henson's private workout on Tuesday. "He would have trouble with guys like (Indiana center) Roy Hibbert who have the size. But when you look at teams putting smaller lineups on the floor, he could play the center position, because he also has the ability to move his feet as a defensive player."

Henson may be off the board when Milwaukee selects at No. 12.

"John's individual workout is probably the best we've had this year in our draft workouts," McKinney added. "Obviously, we like him, but he's not going to be there at 12 when we select. It's a matter of whether it's practical for us to move up or the teams ahead of us would value him as much as we would.”

John Henson is amongst six draft prospects working out for the Bucks on Tuesday.

Joining Henson are Augustus Gilchrist, Garrett Stutz, Matt Gatens, Zane Johnson and Rob Jones.

Evan Fournier, Will Barton, Ramone Moore and Larry Anderson worked out for the Bucks on Saturday.

The Bucks have the 12th and 42nd picks but also could weigh trades and moving up or down in the draft order.

Milwaukee is still trying to schedule a workout with Austin Rivers.
