Bucks, Nets Reach Deal On Jason Kidd

Jun 30, 2014 4:56 PM

The Milwaukee Bucks will send two future second round picks to the Brooklyn Nets to secure the coaching rights to Jason Kidd.

Kidd will become head coach of the Bucks, replacing Larry Drew.

The Bucks' front office was previously unaware of ownership's interest in hiring Kidd. While Kidd will be hired strictly as head coach, Adrian Wojnarowski has reported that the expectation is that he'll eventually control basketball operations.

Howard Beck of Bleacher Report indicates that Kidd and the Bucks are working on a contract that will pay him $4 million to $5 million per season and no less than three seasons. Kidd's contract is not expected to include any clause that gives him final authority over personnel.

Bucks Only Offering Head Coaching Job To Jason Kidd

Jun 29, 2014 6:34 PM

The Milwaukee Bucks have yet to interview any candidates for the positions currently held by John Hammond and David Morway, according to sources. The jobs of those two members of the Bucks' front office are not in danger.

The Bucks are only offering a head coaching position to Jason Kidd.

A source indicated that the Bucks met with Kidd on Friday in New York.

The situation should also be resolved within the next 24 hours.

Jason Kidd Loses Power Play With Nets, Given Permission To Interview With Bucks

Jun 29, 2014 11:46 AM

Jason Kidd has received permission to speak with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Kidd approached ownership with a series of demands, including the role of overseeing the Brooklyn Nets’ basketball operations department in addition to his head coaching responsibilities.

The source said Kidd didn’t want general manager Billy King to be dismissed, but wanted to be given a title and placed above him in the organizational hierarchy.

Sam Amick of the USA Today reports that the Bucks' front office was unaware of the franchise's interest in Kidd, which suggests it came from ownership.

Wes Edens and Marc Lasry, the Bucks' new owners, are friends with Kidd.

As an interested aside, a message board poster on RealGM broke news of the developing situation with Kidd two days before it surfaced in the media.

Jabari Parker Happy With Bucks, Wants To ‘Stick With One Team’

Jun 26, 2014 11:38 PM

It was no secret that the Milwaukee Bucks and Jabari Parker shared mutual interest and the relationship became official on Thursday when the club drafted him with the No. 2 pick.

Parker smiled when the Cleveland Cavaliers took Andrew Wiggins first overall, and new Bucks owners Marc Lasry and Wesley Edens spent time at the player’s table in the green room prior to the pick.

“I was just going off what I was given,” Parker said when reminded that he said Wednesday that he expected to be in Milwaukee. “They told me that they’re all in. I can’t go in with any accusations of teams not telling me anything. I just went from what was accurate.”

Parker, who is a Chicago native, will play relatively close to home. He has yet to even put on a Bucks jersey, but moments after being drafted he pledged his allegiance to the rebuilding franchise.

“They’re a young team. I feel like I can contribute right off the bat,” Parker said. “I feel like I’m going to be able to grow with that organization, and I’m trying to be a throwback player, only stick with one team.

“This might bite me in the butt years from now, but right now I just want to stick with whoever’s rolling with me."

Bucks Rule Out Embiid, Comfortable Taking Parker Or Wiggins

Jun 23, 2014 12:59 PM

The Milwaukee Bucks have all but ruled out Joel Embiid with the No. 2 overall pick.

The Bucks will select either Jabari Parker or Andrew Wiggins depending on who is still available after the first overall pick.

The Bucks also like Dante Exum, but the chances of the Bucks taking him went down after Wiggins' workout on Friday.

There have been several trade calls made about the pick, but the Bucks feel like they need a franchise player and are unlikely to still draft one by trading down.

Jabari Parker Prefers Bucks Over Cavaliers

Jun 23, 2014 12:21 PM

A source says Jabari Parker strongly prefers to play for the Milwaukee Bucks, something that the Cleveland Cavaliers appear to be aware of.

Parker worked out for the Cavaliers on Friday and two sources said he seemed indifferent. One source thought Parker "tanked" the workout.

"Jabari wasn't himself," one source said. "It was clear we weren't his first option."

But the Cavaliers are still leaning toward taking Parker over Andrew Wiggins.
