Drew Gooden and Andrew Bynum have been named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week for games played between March 12nd and March 18th.
Gooden, Milwaukee's second consecutive Player of the Week winner (Ersan Ilyasova), led the Bucks to a 3-0 week behind averages of 18.0 points, 9.7 rebounds and 8.0 assists. Gooden's 15-point, 13-assist, 10-rebound triple-double keyed the Bucks' 115-105 win against the Cavaliers on March 14. Andrew Bogut denied having a rift with Scott Skiles when talking to the Journal Sentinel following his trade from the Bucks to Warriors.
"Definitely not," said Bogut about rumors of their strained relationship. "We got into it like anybody else. It's ridiculous. I never came out and said anything along those lines (of a rift). Skiles knew my value and that by defending you helped the team. We got along for the most part. I demanded the best of him; he demanded the best of you. So be it."
Bogut is excited about the new opportunity with the Warriors.
"Golden State is very excited to have me and I spoke to their GM (Larry Riley) last night. I'll get a chance to play with Steph Curry, David Lee and they have a talented rookie in Klay Thompson. They have some players to build around. It's exciting to start over but it's always hard and sad to leave."
The Warriors were reluctant to include Ekpe Udoh in their trade of Monta Ellis for Andrew Bogut and Stephen Jackson.
But decided to pull the trigger went Ellis went public with his wish to be traded from the Warriors. Ellis had been privately telling Golden State that he wanted to be dealt.
Milwaukee refused to agree to the trade without the inclusion of Udoh.
The Bucks have traded Andrew Bogut and Stephen Jackson to the Warriors for Monta Ellis, Ekpe Udoh and Kwame Brown, it was announced shortly after midnight on Wednesday.
The Magic had been hoping to acquire Ellis, but Golden State was adamant about exchanging him for a proven talent.
Bogut is signed through the 13-14 season.
Milwaukee benefits in taking on the expiring contract of Brown in exchange for Jackson, who had a problematic stay with the team and was signed through the 12-13 season.
The Warriors have no interest in trading Monta Ellis in a deal that sends him to the Magic, which would increase the odds of the team keeping Dwight Howard, according to sources.
Orlando attempted to piece together a three-team deal for Ellis, including efforts with the Bucks and Hornets.
Howard's representatives reiterated that his preference is to play for the Nets.
Howard also has a list of several players he would like to play with, and Ellis is on the list. Deron Williams is also presumed to be on the list.
The Nets, Hornets and Timberwolves have had the most players miss games due to injury this season, followed by the Bobcats, Knicks, Grizzlies and Raptors.
