Love's Minutes Are Down This Month

Feb 21, 2010 6:15 PM

Timberwolves forward Kevin Love has played just 30 minutes in a game once this month but has three double-doubles.

In January, Love played 30 or more minutes in nine of 14 games.

Minnesota coach Kurt Rambis calls the disparity mainly a matter of circumstance, a combination of factors.

"He'll get into that 30 and above minute category, if everything is normal," Rambis said. "We've just had some games lately that weren't very normal."

Rambis Just Wants To Give Darko 'A Positive Experience'

Feb 20, 2010 12:09 PM

Kurt Rambis is doing his best to motivate Darko Milicic after the Wolves acquired him on this week.

"I want him to have a positive experience here. That's all," said Rambis "I want him to feel good about this environment, this franchise. Feel good about his abilities on the floor. Get him playing, get him having fun again, get him feeling good about basketball again. We'll deal with what comes out of it after that."

Milicic was given the option of suiting up for that night's game with Chicago, but chose to remain on the inactive list.

Rambis said he was satisfied, after an afternoon meeting, that Milicic is willing to give the Wolves a chance. "I think he's positive. He's willing to come in with open eyes, with an open mind, and see what happens," Rambis said.

Timberwolves 'Intrigued' By Milicic

Feb 18, 2010 6:06 AM

The Timberwolves pulled off a seemingly minor trade on Wednesday when they agreed to send Brian Cardinal to the Knicks in exchange for Darko Milicic.

Milicic has been buried on New York's bench for most of the season and hasn't played in a game since November.

"All of us are intrigued by him," Minnesota general manager David Kahn, "and we're not sure what to expect. He's a legitimate 7-footer who was drafted second in the league one year [2003]. At times, he has had flashes of real strong play. At times, he has had flashes of real poor play. He's a little bit of an enigma.

"We thought it was worthwhile to take a look for these last 20-some games and see what he could do."

The Timberwolves are hoping Milicic will be available to play Friday against the Bucks. Kahn plans to meet with the European forward in New York City on Thursday.

"I do think it's important to sit down and explain what we seen the situation being for him," Kahn said. "It has been a tough year for him. Frankly, it has been a tough career for him."

"This is the culmination of a real disappointment for him."

Milicic hasn't played since December and was planning on never playing in the NBA again.
