Wolves Waive DerMarr Johnson

Sep 30, 2010 8:12 PM

The Minnesota Timberwolves waived free agent forward DerMarr Johnson on Thursday.

The team traveled overseas for their NBA Europe Live series on Thursday.

Johnson had to sit out the first three days of the Timberwolves' five-day training camp at Minnesota State Mankato because of slow-arriving paperwork from the NBA office and the Jiangsu Nangang Dragons, a pro team in China that owns his rights.

Beasley Believes Kahn Didn't Deserve $50k Fine

Sep 25, 2010 1:56 AM

David Kahn's comments about Michael Beasley marijuana use led to a hefty fine for the Minnesota GM.

"Yes, I did talk to him about it," Beasley said. "I felt like he shouldn't have gotten fined $50,000. He meant the right thing, he just didn't word it right. Everybody knows what I did in my past and everybody knows that I sincerely ... I don't want to say sorry because I didn't do anything wrong to you, but I'm humbled. I've learned from what I did.

"I don't feel like he revealed anything that hadn't already been revealed. He said what half the world already knows."

Kahn was asked if he felt he violated Beasley's privacy with his comments and if he talked to Beasley about the matter and felt the need to apologize.

"I talked to Michael," Kahn said. "I think Michael knew exactly where I was coming from and I'll leave it at that."

The Timberwolves waived center Greg Stiemsma on Friday.

Stiemsma's contract from the 2010-11 season was not guaranteed.

"They wanted a summer workout partner for Al Jefferson, a job no longer required obviously. And just in case they needed his non-guaranteed contract to make a big summer trade work, one that never came," Jerry Zgoda of the Star-Tribune writes.
