Andrei Kirilenko has decided to opt out of the final guaranteed year of his contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves and will become an unrestricted free agent.

Kirilenko is seeking a three or four-year contract.

Kirilenko was the Timberwolves' third leading scorer last season, averaging 12.4 points on 50.7 percent shooting.

The 2013 NBA Draft immediately delivered shock with the Cleveland Cavaliers' selection of Anthony Bennett. The Cavaliers were expected to pick between Nerlens Noel and Alex Len.

The Cleveland Cavaliers offered the No. 1 overall pick, Tristan Thompson and Dion Waiters to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Kevin Love, according to a source.

The Wolves rejected the trade offer and hope to build around Love under Flip Saunders.

The thinking from the Cavaliers' perspective would be to pair Kyrie Irving with a legitimate All-Star in Love.

The Cavaliers have reportedly not decided on who to select first overall and also continue to look for a trade of the selection.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are attempting to move up in the draft to select Victor Oladipo.

The Wolves are offering Derrick Williams along with the No. 9 and No. 26 picks to put themselves into a position to select Oladipo.

Oladipo could go anywhere from No. 2 to No. 5.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are engaged in trade talks with multiple teams regarding their No. 1 pick in the NBA draft.

The Oklahoma City Thunder, Minnesota Timberwolves and Portland Trail Blazers have been the most proactive to try to acquire the top pick, according to sources.

Neither team has persuaded the Cavaliers to move out of the pick, though.

The Brooklyn Nets and Minnesota Timberwolves are discussing a trade involving MarShon Brooks, according to sources.

The Nets need depth at point guard, while the Wolves have a surplus in JJ Barea and Luke Ridnour.

The Wolves are targeting perimeter shooters on the wing.

A proposal is on the table waiting for the approval of the Wolves.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are expected to pursue Kevin Garnett for a ceremonial role in their ownership when he retires from the NBA, according to sources.

Garnett has two seasons remaining on his contract with the Boston Celtics, but may play just one more season before reuniting with Flip Saunders.

"The opportunity will be there for him," one source said, "but there's nothing decided yet."

Garnett was with the Timberwolves from 1995 until his trade to the Celtics in 2007.

Andrei Kirilenko has a $10 million player option for next season with the Minnesota Timberwolves and has until June 29 to make his decision.

Kirilenko will likely wait until after the draft to make his decision.

"I think it will come right after the draft," said Kirilenko.

Kirilenko is unlikely to get as much money on an open market, but could opt for a longer term deal with more money overall.

Interest in Sergey Karasev has elevated so much from seven teams between the Nos. 9 and 22 picks in the NBA draft, the Russian prospect will have those organizations fly out to meet him in Europe, league sources told RealGM.

Karasev, 19, remains unlikely to leave Russia for any workouts or interviews, but teams have insisted they come sit down with him in Russia. Even though he’ll speak to teams now, Karasev won’t work out.

When Karasev returned to Russia earlier this month, he had left teams believing they might not get the opportunity to see him before the draft. Still, Karasev hasn’t received a firm first round guarantee yet, a source said.

A 6-foot-7 swingman, Karasev has intrigued with his shooting and playmaking, following an average of 20 points on 49 percent three-point shooting in this season’s European Cup. With the ninth and 26th selections in the first round, the Minnesota Timberwolves have scouted Karasev comprehensively after bringing over Alexey Shved from Russia last offseason, but they don’t appear to be the strongest contenders for Karasev.

During Cody Zeller's workout for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Flip Saunders let the big man know that he "got his butt kicked" in Indiana's upset loss to Minnesota last season.

Even at seven feet, Zeller is power forward in the NBA -- not a center -- according to Saunders.

“He’s not a center and anyone looking at him as a center is not evaluating,” Saunders said. “He can really shoot the ball. He’ll be a very good ‘stretch 4.’ ”

Zeller believes he would be a terrific fit with the Timberwolves.

“I think I’d fit in well,” Zeller said. “I’d be able to grow behind [Nikola] Pekovic and [Kevin] Love. I know [Ricky] Rubio would be a lot of fun to play with. I love point guards who can run … My quickness, speed, agility as a big guy, that’s what I’ve been doing in the Big Ten and that’s what translates in the NBA.”
