Karl-Anthony Towns Already Calling Minnesota Home

Jul 28, 2016 1:31 PM

Karl-Anthony Towns grew up in New Jersey but he's quickly acclimated to living in Minnesota with the Timberwolves.

“A lot of times, I talk to my friends and family and I’m always trying to rush back to Minnesota,” Towns said Wednesday. “This is where I call home.”

Towns was at a basketball camp at Hopkins High School in Minnesota.

“I have a lot of my blood and sweat and tears here,” Towns said. “I have a certain thing with Minnesota. I always want to come back here.”

Towns tries to get back to Minnesota as often as possible during the summer.

“I love being here,” Towns said. “Hopefully, I can spend the rest of my career here.”

Towns has been talking to his Wolves' teammates regularly.

“We’re concocting a plan to be the best Timberwolves team that’s come around in a long time,” he said. “A lot of people tend to think that we’re the Timberwolves, and we’re at the bottom of the barrel,” he said. “I just want everyone to know that we’re coming. Just remember us, remember who we were for the last 13 years, because things are about to change.”

Wolves Unlikely To Trade Ricky Rubio

Jul 18, 2016 11:41 AM

The Minnesota Timberwolves are unlikely to trade away Ricky Rubio.

Speculation about the future of Rubio has been heightened since they drafted Kris Dunn with the fifth overall pick.

“I don’t see that as a likely possibility,” owner Glen Taylor said about a Rubio trade. “I just think the coach, everybody, likes Ricky. I think we want him to come in and improve on his shooting. But his other things, he plays defense, he gets assists, he helps the others get better. He has some wonderful qualities.

“I think the coach wants to bring an assistant coach to help Ricky on his shooting and I think that’s where we’re going to start out and go and we’ll see how good Kris Dunn is.”

Rubio has three seasons remaining on his contract with Minnesota.

The Timberwolves hired Tom Thibodeau as their head coach in April and Taylor believes they will help Rubio with his shooting

"I think the coach wants to bring an assistant coach to help Ricky on his shooting and I think that's where we're going to start out and go and we'll see how good Kris Dunn is," Taylor said.

Kevin Garnett Unsure If Knees Will Hold Up Playing In 16-17

Jul 17, 2016 11:37 AM

Kevin Garnett remains uncertain if he'll return for the 16-17 NBA season.

Garnett is under contract for $8 million next season with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

"I just asked him, 'Kevin, what are you going to do?' His answer was, 'I'd really like to play next year 'cuz I'd like to go out knowing we got into the playoffs,' " Glen Taylor said.

"Then he said, 'I don't know if I can.'

"I asked him, 'What does that mean?' And he said, 'I don't know.'

"So I asked the question but I didn't get an answer that helped me. Yes, theoretically, he'd like to play. But he has some doubts of his knees holding up. I believe he told me exactly the truth."
