To keep Dwight Howard, the Lakers will have to sell him on a vision for 2014 and beyond. As a result, if championships are his goal, the Rockets are the safer bet for a whole host of reasons. Read More. Written by Jonathan Tjarks on May 23, 2013

Corey Brewer has seen his playing time decrease as of late, something Timberwolves coach Kurt Rambis calls "circumstantial."
However, the return of Martell Webster from back surgery and the development of Wesley Johnson will likely keep Brewer's minutes down.
Minnesota chose not to negotiate a contract extension with the guard, who will become a restricted free agent next summer.
"I don't really want a trade," Brewer said. "I want to play more. I love Minnesota, been here four years. I don't really want to go anywhere, whatever they decide to do. If I'm not getting the minutes I'd like to get, I still feel I can help the team whenever I do get out there.
"As long as that's positive, everybody sees it here and other teams see it."
Jonny Flynn hopes to remain in Minnesota, but he's aware of the trade rumors involving his name.
He acknowledged Thursday that he could be traded with veteran Luke Ridnour starting and the Timberwolves hoping to bring Ricky Rubio over from Spain next season.
Flynn pays attention to the rumors, but doesn't let them get him down.
He is nine games into his return from offseason hip surgery and is averaging 5.1 points and 2.9 rebounds in 17.4 minutes.
George Karl admitted to inquiring about the availability of Kevin Love during the previous offseason.
"We liked him last year when he was kind of inconsistent," Karl said. "We made inquiries on Kevin Love this summer. (But) we didn't think this. We didn't think he'd make the huge step that he's made from last year to this year. This is incredible."
Asked how close the Nuggets were to acquiring Love, Karl said: "I know he was on our radar screen. I know there were inquiries. In some of the meetings we talked, his name was out there. It never got close, I know that."
LeBron James said last week that the NBA would be more entertaining with fewer teams, mentioning Kevin Love as one player he'd like to see on a different team.
On Sunday, Love brushed off the comments.
"Those are interesting comments," Love said. "I saw what he said and it is not like that he is the only one that thought of that before or thought of that lately. You hear rumblings of contraction."
Love is averaging 20.8 points and 15.7 rebounds this season.
"That was just something he said," Love said. "I didn't really pay too much attention to it. I just figure that when the time comes with the CBA [collective bargaining agreement], the owners and players and everybody involved will make their decision. I didn't really think much of it."
Timberwolves coach Kurt Rambis doubts Jonny Flynn will return on Tuesday night against the Warriors, but the young point guard believes otherwise.
"I think I'm ready to get back in it and starting playing this week on this road trip, I think (Tuesday) is a very high possibility," Flynn said. "I feel good enough to do it. Now it's just whether Kurt and them feel the same way. By my standards, I think I'm definitely playing."
Flynn says he's ready even though he didn't get to play back-to-back games in the D League this weekend as the team had hoped.
