Brooklyn Nets Unveil Black And White Logo Scheme

Apr 30, 2012 6:36 PM

The Brooklyn Nets released their logos on Monday, which will feature a blake and white color scheme.

The concept pays homage to the old New York subway signage system.

"We've been waiting a long time for this," CEO Brett Yormark said. "The Brooklyn Nets are finally part of the conversation."

The Nets will have two primary logos, one with a shield and the name "NETS" accompanied by the letter "B" inside a basketball and "BROOKLYN" underneath. The second features the letter "B" inside a basketball wrapped around "BROOKLYN NEW YORK."

The Nets will unveil their new uniforms sometime in the fall.

Williams' Top Priority Will Be To Put Himself In Winning Situation

Apr 28, 2012 10:46 AM

Deron Williams said putting himself in the best opportunity to win will be his top priority in free agency.

“I want to win, that’s first and foremost,’’ said Williams. “So I’m going to go where I feel we have the best chance to win. I know we might not win a championship in the first year or two, but hopefully, (the place I go) has the chances of building something special, and has flexibility — just somewhere where I believe they’re headed in the right direction.’’

Williams will consider re-signing with the Nets ahead of their move to Brooklyn.

“I’m still looking at all the possibilities here,’’ he said. “I went to the arena a couple days ago and saw how it was, and it’s going to be an exciting arena. It’s going to be a great place to play. And I’ve always been confident in this organization. Even though I was opting out I always said that doesn’t mean I’m not re-signing with the Nets; and that still remains the same.’’

Training for Team USA begins July 6 while free agency starts on July 1. Williams hopes to make his decision by the time he leaves.

Lopez Prefers To Remain With Nets

Apr 28, 2012 10:43 AM

Brook Lopez's preference is to remain with the Nets as he enters restricted free agency.

Lopez missed most of the season due to injury while also being included in Dwight Howard trade rumors.

“This is really the place I want to be,” he said. “I was drafted here ... I love being a Net. It's the only thing I know. I like everyone in the organization. I have good friends here. I've enjoyed my time in this area, and would have no objections at all to continuing to be here.”

Gerald Wallace Likely To Opt Out

Apr 27, 2012 11:02 PM

Gerald Wallace has a player option worth $9.5 million for the 12-13 season, but he suggested that he plans to opt out to sign a four or five-year deal.

Wallace said the idea of playing in Brooklyn is appealing.

“It does,” Wallace said. “I was a part of Charlotte [Bobcats] when they first got started. Just the buzz and the atmosphere from the community around that was amazing. Brooklyn has never had a team. I can just imagine how excited and all of the buzz that's going to be around that situation."

The Nets acquired Wallace in exchange for their 2012 first round pick (top-3 protected), along with Mehmet Okur and Shawne Williams.

Williams To Make Decisions Before Olympics

Apr 27, 2012 11:00 PM

The Nets enter an offseason with the all-important question of whether Deron Williams will re-sign with the franchise as a free agent.

Williams will make his decision before late July when the Olympics' activities begin.

"I don't want to play in the Olympics without a contract," said Williams.

Williams is also expected to be pursued by the Mavericks. Williams was coy when asked about their potential interest this summer.

"I don't know why everybody just throws Dallas out there like they've heard something from me," he said. "I don't know."

Williams remains interested in making the move with the Nets to Brooklyn.

"Yeah, definitely, it would be great to be a part of that first game, that first team there," Williams said, "kind of start our own legacy in Brooklyn. So that's definitely enticing. That's definitely something I think about on a regular basis."
