Pelicans Consider Signing Dante Cunningham

Nov 30, 2014 8:33 PM

The New Orleans Pelicans are strongly considering signing Dante Cunningham.

Cunningham worked out for the Pelicans over the weekend.

The NBA recently suspended Charlotte's Jeffrey Taylor 24 games after he plead guilty in a misdemeanor domestic assault case. Despite charges being dropped against Cunningham, it was immediately unclear if he faced any league discipline.

Cunningham has been working to clear his name with NBA executives since a domestic assault arrest in April in Minneapolis. As a member of the Timberwolves, Cunningham was charged with an assault on his then- girlfriend, but charges were eventually dropped and police found that his accuser’s story included falsehoods.

Anthony Davis 'Loves' Situation With Pelicans

Nov 27, 2014 3:05 PM

Anthony Davis believes that the New Orleans Pelicans are on the "right path" and is confident they will make the postseason this year.

"We know what we got in this locker room," Davis said. "We know what direction we want to go in and our identity to be."

The Pelicans are 7-6 this season.

Davis is pleased with his current situation with the Pelicans. Davis will make $7 million in the final year of his rookie contract, but is eligible for a maximum contract extension next summer that could be worth about $90 million over five years. If he is not signed to an extension prior to the start of the 2015-16 season, he will be a restricted free agent in July 2016.

"I love it here in New Orleans," Davis said. "Great city. Great atmosphere. …We're getting the fans back and New Orleans back buzzing for the Pelicans, a great organization. I love my team here.

"We're definitely moving in the right direction. I don't know what the future holds, but right now I'm definitely loving the team and the organization."

Anthony Davis Trying To 'Stay Within The System'

Nov 11, 2014 12:38 PM

Anthony Davis is averaging 24.8 points, 13.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.5 steals and 4.2 blocks over the first six games of the season with a PER of 36.1.

“I just try to stay within the system, within the game,” said Davis. “I just got to be confident in myself. Patience is a huge part. I don’t chase shots or anything like that. I just let the game come to me, and it’s a lot easier to play that way.”

Davis received praise from LeBron James before their matchup on Monday.

“I don’t read that stuff,” Davis said. “I just want to win games, go to the playoffs, win championships, you know? That’s what he’s done, and I’ve yet to do that, so that’s where I want to get. It means a lot to have him say that. It’s a testament to all the work I put in last summer to get better, and it’s starting to show, but, at the same time, I can’t be satisfied.”
