Gallinari Finally Able To Sleep In Peace

Apr 30, 2009 5:21 PM

Danilo Gallinari began his rehab on Wednesday and is progressing.

"I feel better," Gallinari said. "For example, I'm sleeping without pain. I didn't sleep for a lot of months. So it's a big improvement. Pain is not the same. I'm feeling a lot better. Hopefully I'll be perfect in the next three months and be ready for training camp."

Curry's Conditioning Program Set To Begin

Apr 30, 2009 12:20 PM

Eddy Curry and his agent have arranged for the big man to head to Detroit this off-season to lose weight, get his body in shape, and regain control of his basketball career.

Curry's Twitter message was as follows:  "In detroit with my uncle "WES" I'm spending the summer here working out. Wish me luck!!!"

Curry is referring to William "Wes" Wesley, the man who is a key catalyst and deal-maker in the world of the NBA.

Wesley is also a close friend of LeBron James.  Curry and James have the same agent, Leon Rose.

Lee Open To 'All Offers' As A Free Agent

Apr 28, 2009 12:43 PM

David Lee is a restricted free agent this summer and though he is optimistic about remaining with the Knicks, he acknowledges the reality of the uncertainty.

"I wouldn't say I'm uneasy, but there's definitely more doubt than past years," Lee told the New York Post. "I think I'll be here in New York. This is where I want to be. I expect other teams will be very interested. We're open to all offers."

According to sources, Donnie Walsh wants to sign Lee but not if his asking price is $10 million per year.

"My job is done," Lee said. "It's up to Mr. Walsh and [agent Mark] Bartlestein. They've worked together for a long time."

RealGM Note: Lee was ranked 11th in season FIC and with a Reina Value of +911%, 'deserved' a salary of $18.1M.  But the FIC is strictly a statistical measurement and Mike D'Antoni's system, coupled with a dearth of other rebounders on the Knicks clearly contributed to the high ranking.

Court Papers Claim Curry Put Moves On Driver

Apr 25, 2009 10:40 AM

According to court papers filed on Friday, Knicks center Eddy Curry pressured his driver into fooling around with him and and made the chauffeur hide evidence of extra-martial affairs.

David Kuchinsky made the claims in a sexual harassment and discrimination suit filed against Curry in Manhattan Federal Court last year.

"I was approached by Curry in the nude and solicited to engage in homosexual acts with him," Kuchinsky writes.

Curry continues to strongly deny all the allegations.

Isiah's FIU Deal Worth $1.29M Over Five Years

Apr 24, 2009 11:16 AM

Isiah Thomas will make $1.29 million in base salary and bonuses from Florida International if he remains with the school for the duration of his five-year contract.

A copy of Thomas' deal was released to The Associated Press on Thursday.

His base salary will range from $250,000 in the second year through $350,000 in the fifth year, and if he completes five seasons, he'll receive a $100,000 bonus. Thomas told FIU officials during the contract negotiations that he did not want to be "a financial burden'' to the school, and offered to waive his salary for the first year.

Stephen Curry Fits In With Knicks, Potentially LeBron?

Apr 24, 2009 11:02 AM

LeBron James watched Stephen Curry play this season and he believes he can be a very effective NBA player, writes Alan Hahn.  He should be available with the eighth overall pick.

"He's the type of player that's hard to guard no matter how big you are," LeBron said at the time. "Guys in the NBA don't want to continue to chase guys like that."

James also is a big fan of Nate Robinson and it is likely the Knicks wouldn't draft Curry if they intend to keep Robinson, according to Hahn's report.

Mullin Likely To Be The Next Knick GM?

Apr 24, 2009 7:24 AM

While many believe that outgoing Warriors GM Chris Mullin has been all but promised the GM job in New York, team president Donnie Walsh has said that it is not on his mind, and it is not something he'll address for at least the next three months, the New York Post is reporting.

If Walsh decides to hire a GM, it is believed that Mullin will be high up on the list, along with Billy Knight and Billy King.  All three have had recent GM experience, and all three have ties to Walsh while with the Pacers.

"Some guy called me yesterday and said he'd heard I'd hired Billy Knight," Walsh said. "I have no idea where all this stuff comes from. It's amazing how much misinformation is out there."

D'Antoni Could Be Next Olympic Coach

Apr 23, 2009 9:49 AM

With Mike Krzyzewski admitting that his status as the coach of U.S. Olympic basketball team is up in the air, New York's Mike D'Antoni could step in as the next coach.

Team USA basketball director Jerry Colangelo told the New York Post back in February that D'Antoni would be a top candidate if Krzyzewski were not to return.

"I'm tied to Coach K and will wait to see what he decides to do. I'll probably serve in any position they ask me to do. It was a great experience. Whatever they decide, I'll fall right in line," D'Antoni said of the possibility that he could become the team's next coach.

LeBron Wants To Leave Cleveland With A Title?

Apr 21, 2009 2:09 PM

Frank Isola reports that most of those in LeBron James' inner circle think he will sign with the Knicks a little over a year from now.

"I've always felt that LeBron would stay but when you talk to people close to him - business people - the majority of them believe he'll be a Knick," writes Isola.

James may feel that winning a championship in Cleveland would allow him to leave town on good terms.

"The thinking is that LeBron would be more inclined to chase his dream of becoming the world's first billion dollar athlete in New York if he were to leave behind a title with the Cavs," writes Isola.  "There are those who believe that LeBron wouldn't want to split from his hometown without having raised a championship banner."
