Amar'e Stoudemire cut his hand after punching the glass enclosing a fire extinguisher following the Knicks' Game 2 loss to the Heat.

Stoudemire needed stitches on the hand to close the cut and there was a great deal of blood on the scene.

New York trails Miami 0-2 in the first round series.

Heat Defense Caught Anthony Off Guard

Apr 29, 2012 11:36 AM

The Heat switched up its defensive scheme against Carmelo Anthony in Game 1, opting to front and deny Anthony the ball in the mid-post.

"I wasn't expecting that," Anthony said. "I think they made some major adjustments out there fronting me, sending me down to the bigs, showing me two or three guys at a time, so it was an adjustment that they made. Now, it's time for us to make that adjustment."

Anthony shot 3-for-15 from the floor as the Knicks connected on 35.7 percent of their total shot attempts.

"We were trying to be more aggressive, trying to be more alert, making his catches tougher," Erik Spoelstra said. "[Carmelo] will make adjustments. He's too good of a player and shot maker, and he'll find ways to get open. He can put pressure on our defense, but the most important thing is our activity and our commitment to that type of energy level."

LeBron James expects Anthony to bounce back in Game 2.

"He's going to make adjustments like all great players do," James said. "We have to be ready for him in Game 2."

Lin Plays One-On-One, May Return Against Miami

Apr 29, 2012 10:56 AM

Jeremy Lin played one-on-one on Saturday and may return for the Knicks’ first-round playoff series against Miami.

There has been no official update to Lin’s estimated return date, but with Iman Shumpert out after tearing his left ACL and Baron Davis’ back ailing, the Knicks may be tempted to activate Lin.

Lin averaged 18.5 points and 7.6 assists in 26 games with the Knicks this season.

Shumpert Injures Left Knee

Apr 28, 2012 8:20 PM

Iman Shumpert suffered a non-contact knee injury during the third quarter of New York's Game 1 loss to Miami.

Shumpert twisted his left knee while dribbling up the court and had to be carried off by two teammates. Shumpert was later taken to a Miami hospital for tests.

The Knicks are already thin in the backcourt due to Jeremy Lin's injury and were counting on Shumpert to help defend Dwyane Wade.

Davis Compares Knicks To 'We Believe' Warriors

Apr 27, 2012 10:35 AM

Baron Davis sees some of the 2006-07 Golden State Warriors in the 2011-12 New York Knicks.

Davis was the starting point guard on the 06-07 Golden State team that upset the No. 1 seeded Mavericks in the first round of the playoffs.

“The thing we had with the Warriors going against Dallas is we knew we could win that series,’’ Davis said. “And we won it. The confidence was there. We share the same type of energy here with the Knicks, knowing that nobody is counting us in it to win it but what we believe in ourselves in the ability to stop people down the stretch.’’

The Knicks haven't won a playoff series in 12 years.

“We set out with a goal at the beginning of the year and it was to be a championship-caliber team, make the playoffs and play towards a championship,’’ said Davis. “And through all the bumps and bruises we had all having a new coach, we’re still a very good team. We’re a better team than when we started the season. We have camaraderie that is unbelievable.’’

Lin Practices, Could Return For 2nd Round If Knicks Advance

Apr 25, 2012 3:38 PM

Jeremy Lin shot and worked on conditioning drills during Wednesday's practice.

This marked the first time Lin has been a participant at a Knicks' practice since undergoing surgery on April 2nd.

"He's starting to smell the gym a little more, which is great," Woodson said. "I asked him yesterday how he felt after getting out running a little bit, he said he felt pretty good. But we got to put him through drills where he's cutting and things of that nature to make sure the knee doesn't swell up and he's not physically sore. There is going to be some soreness. We just have to make sure when he steps out on the floor he's able to do basketball things."

Mike Woodson thinks Lin could be ready for the second round if the Knicks advance.
