Pablo Prigioni Will Look To Distribute As Knicks PG

Jul 29, 2012 10:49 AM

Pablo Prigioni says his game about moving the ball and finding the open man.

“The way I play is great to have wonder players like them (around me),” Prigioni said when asked about playing with scorers like Carmelo Anthony. “I like to play for my teammates, give the ball in the right moments and try to exploit their talents. That’s how I think as a point guard.

“I’m not looking to score 30 points. Some days you need me to score more, I score. I understand basketball is a team sport. I want to play for my teammates, penetrate, dish and get assists. The way I play it is great to have great scorers around me like I have on the national team.”

Prigioni is teaming with fellow NBA players Manu Ginobili and Luis Scola on the Argentinean national team.

“I feel something inside my body to push me to accept (the Knicks) offer,” Prigioni said. “I want to go there to try to play in the best league in the world against the great wonderful players. I’m pretty sure that now I want to go.”

Carmelo Denies Pushing Lin Out Of New York

Jul 28, 2012 2:02 AM

Carmelo Anthony dismissed the notion that he helped run Jeremy Lin out of New York, saying "believe it or not I've been one of the true supporters of Jeremy Lin.

“Money talks at the end of the day. I said this in Vegas, Houston threw something out there that he couldn’t refuse ... I’m proud of him, happy for him. I wish him all the best.”

Anthony communicated with Lin during the free agency process and maintains that he hoped the third-year point guard would remain in New York.

“It’s not something I brag about or broadcast,” Anthony said. “But I’ve been one of his supporters along the way. After he signed with Houston I talked to him. He texted me. I’ll keep that disclosed what we talked about it. But it was a great text. What he sent me really meant a lot.”

Ronnie Brewer May Start At SG For Knicks

Jul 27, 2012 10:33 AM

Ronnie Brewer is likely to start at shooting guard ahead of J.R. Smith.

Brewer is considered a plus-defender who can guard multiple positions.

"A lot of people want to play defense but some people just don't have the ability to do it," the 6-7 veteran said. "... I take pride in defense and, in my opinion, I think defense wins championships."

Brewer turned down more lucrative deals elsewhere to play for the Knicks.

"It didn't come down to money," said Brewer, who believes the Knicks have enough talent to compete against the Heat. "It's where you want to go and where you feel comfortable."

Knicks Express Interest In Sonny Weems, Maurice Evans

Jul 20, 2012 11:20 PM

The Knicks have "shown some interest" in Sonny Weems and Maurice Evans, according to their agent Roger Montgomery, who also represents Jeremy Lin.

"I think both of them would fit really good in that situation," Montgomery said. "Mo would fit for a number of reasons because what he does as a veteran, and he's played for Woody. And I think Sonny would be an absolute steal if he was able to go play with them, just because of how athletic he is. I think that he could be a starter and he could be a rotation guy. I think he would be ideal."

Weems, 26, averaged 11.8 points for Zalgiris last season.

Evans, who played for the Wizards last season, fits the Knicks’ spending limit of $1.4 million, the so-called veteran's minimum contract.
