The New York Knicks have agreed to a trade with the Toronto Raptors for Andrea Bargnani.

The Knicks will send Marcus Camby, Steve Novak, a first round pick in 2016 and a second round pick to the Raptors.

The Raptors have attempted to trade Bargnani for several months and several other teams have expressed interest recently.

James White Will Enter Free Agency With Knicks Set To Decline Option

Jun 29, 2013 4:47 PM

With the New York Knicks set to decline his team option, James White will become an unrestricted free agent and has received interest from several other NBA teams, agent Bill McCandless told RealGM on Saturday afternoon.

Popular overseas, White’s representatives are in dialogue with one European League team, and they expect further interest throughout Europe and Asia. White averaged 2.2 points on 34.1 percent three-point shooting in 57 games with the Knicks last season, the 6-foot-7 guard’s third year in the NBA.

“I don't know what it will be, but I am sure that James will make more money in 2013-14 than he has in any prior season,” McCandless said. “James loved his time with the Knicks, and he’s looking forward to a new team, where assuredly he would play more.”

The Knicks had discussed with White the possibility of extending the deadline on his option, but management leaned strongly against exercising it after the draft. New York selected Tim Hardaway Jr. with the No. 24 pick in Thursday’s draft.

White, 30, was part of the San Antonio Spurs’ championship team in 2007 and participated in the dunk contest this year.

Chris Copeland Open To Rejecting More Lucrative Offers For Knicks Return

Jun 29, 2013 6:41 PM

Just last year, Chris Copeland rejected substantial proposals from clubs to fulfill his desire to play in the NBA. After a breakout season with the New York Knicks, Copeland knows he’ll once again have to pass up larger offers for his hope: a return to the Knicks.

European powerhouse FC Barcelona has elevated its pursuit of Copeland and wants to start negotiations on a lucrative contract for the 6-foot-8 forward, league sources told RealGM. Copeland will listen to all potential suitors, but still, he’s made clear his willingness to return to the Knicks even if they aren’t able to match his most pricey offer.

“Returning is very much an option,” Copeland's agent, John Spencer, told RealGM. “He turned down several options to play, turned down enormous money to get an NBA opportunity last year. He wants to play and wants to contribute. The Knicks are a good organization, with Mike Woodson and the list goes on.

“There’s a chance another team will potentially pick him up, obviously, but the Knicks gave Chris the opportunity to play and he’s loyal because of that.”

Copeland, 29, had scoring outbursts throughout the Knicks’ season, dropping seven 20-point performances including pouring in 55 points over the final two games of the regular season. When given increased minutes in the Eastern Conference semifinals, Copeland averaged 6.2 points on 55 percent three-point shooting.

Several NBA teams are expected to chase Copeland in free agency, but he told reporters at season’s end he only envisions himself as a Knick. To remain with the Knicks, Copeland, a restricted free agent, would have to accept the mini mid-level exception as the most the franchise can offer.

Carmelo Won't Need Shoulder Surgery

Jun 27, 2013 9:53 PM

Carmelo Anthony does not believe he will require surgery on his on his partially torn left labrum.

"My shoulder feels much better," Anthony said at a ribbon-cutting event for two refurbished courts he provided in Brooklyn. "For the past four-to-five weeks, I've let it rest and heal up. It's not 100 percent yet, but it's much better."

Looking ahead to 2013-14, Anthony said he's not sure what the Knicks need in the draft or free agency.

"It's kind of hard to say you need this piece or that piece," Anthony said. "At the end of the day, man, for me I can't even complain and I won't whine about anything. The only thing I can do is tighten up my belt and keep on moving, keep on going and bring my troops along with me. It's easy to say you need this, you need that after you lose a playoff series."

Shumpert Ready To Fill Possible Void Of J.R. Smith

Jun 26, 2013 12:15 AM

If J.R. Smith leaves the New York Knicks in free agency this offseason, Iman Shumpert is confident he will be ready to fill the void as a difference maker at shooting guard.

“I always accepted all challenges,” Shumpert said. “I would just take that as another challenge."

Even so, Shumpert would like to see the Knicks bring back the same team next season.

“I would love to play with the same team. I have no complaints on our team this year. “I would love to play with those same guys. I built crazy chemistry with those guys toward the end of the year."

J.R. Smith Will Become Free Agent

Jun 25, 2013 12:35 PM

J.R. Smith will not pick up his player option with the New York Knicks for the 13-14 NBA season at $2.9 million in order to become a free agent.

The Knicks can re-sign Smith using the Early Bird Exception starting at approximately $5 million annually for at least two years.

Smith could leave the Knicks if another team offers more money, but he is close with Mike Woodson. Smith and Woodson recently golfed together.

Smith was the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year after averaging 18.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per game last season.
