Source: Kevin Love Likes Idea Of Playing In LA, New York, Chicago

Mar 29, 2014 1:45 PM

Kevin Love can become a free agent in 2015 and appears one of the more likely players to move teams even though he has downplayed the possibility of leaving the Minnesota Timberwolves.

“You know, my parents live there and they had me there,” Love said of Los Angeles. “It’s not my fault. So, I don’t really care about that right now. I just go out there and play and don’t think about it.”

A sources familiar with Love's thinking says he's enamored with the idea of being “big time in a big city,” and that list of potential places he’d seek includes Los Angeles, New York and Chicago.

Both the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers are projected to have max cap space in 2015, while the Chicago Bulls could have enough assets to acquire Love via trade.

Phil Jackson: We're In A Talent Hunt

Mar 26, 2014 10:55 AM

Phil Jackson was in attendance for the New York Knicks' 127-96 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday.

The Knicks allowed 51 points in the third quarter to a Lakers' team playing without Pau Gasol and Kobe Bryant.

“Fifty-one points,” Jackson said. “When it’s 35 points you start to get worried. When it’s a 51-point quarter, that’s really awful.”

Jackson said he's in assessment mode.

“We’re in a talent hunt,” Jackson said. “We have to bring in talent.”

Amar'e Stoudemire Wants To Remain With Knicks Despite Possible Trade Inquiries

Mar 20, 2014 8:01 PM

Amar'e Stoudemire could receive trade inquiries in the offseason due to his expiring contract.

Stoudemire hopes to remain with the New York Knicks and be part of a potentially successful rebuild under the direction of Phil Jackson.

"I think the near future is very bright because we have a great nucleus with Tyson and Carmelo and myself, and now Phil Jackson," Stoudemire said. "Those are all highlights that manifested from me signing here in 2010, when I came here to help the Knicks win.

"That's why I don't want to leave. I want to be here for the long haul and do whatever it takes to win, so whatever sacrifices I have to make, I will be willing to make them."

Woodson Would Welcome Jackson's Help Implementing Triangle

Mar 20, 2014 12:00 PM

Mike Woodson met with Phil Jackson on Wednesday, a few months after James Dolan actually offered his job up to the newly named president of the New York Knicks.

“Mr. Dolan, this is his team, he has that right to talk to anyone about a coaching position,” Woodson said. “Again, I mean, he said it, it happened obviously but I’m the coach of the Knicks right now, I still have a job to do and as long as I’m coach of this team I’m going to try to put my best foot forward in terms of trying to get this goal accomplished in terms of trying to get this team into the playoffs. That’s what’s first and foremost at this point.”

Jackson is widely expected to replace Woodson with a handpicked head coach.

“Could I teach it? Absolutely, I can teach it, but it’d be even better if he helped me teach it,” Woodson said of Jackson. “That would be great. Who would be better in teaching the triangle than Phil Jackson?

Woodson added that he briefly “fooled with” the Triangle under head coach Chris Ford as an assistant in Milwaukee, “but we weren’t as good as Chicago and how they ran it.”

Silver, Buss Discuss Jackson's Setup With Knicks

Mar 19, 2014 8:16 AM

Adam Silver and Jeanie Buss sat down on Monday to discuss Phil Jackson's setup as president of the New York Knicks.

Because Buss is not in charge of personnel moves for the Los Angeles Lakers, there is not expected to be any conflict of interest.

When asked about Jackson possibly joining the Lakers instead of the Knicks, Buss said, "He was not offered an official position. There is no role in the front office for him. ... He's too good of a basketball mind to be sitting home in a rocking chair playing solitaire."

Bulls, Rockets Emerge As Carmelo's Options If He Decides To Leave Knicks

Mar 18, 2014 7:20 PM

Carmelo Anthony has the Chicago Bulls and Houston Rockets as the two options above all others he would consider if he decides to leave the New York Knicks.

The Bulls have an easier path to sign Anthony to a contract, but the Rockets believe they can also shed enough contracts to offer Anthony a third near-max deal alongside Dwight Howard and James Harden.

"He'll give New York every option," one source with knowledge of Anthony's plans told Yahoo Sports on Tuesday. "But he has options – and he's going to explore them all."
