Anthony Davis leads the NBA in PER, living up to the hype so far in his second season.
“I mean, he's the franchise,” Jrue Holiday said. “He's that guy. He's the go-to guy, and everybody here knows it.”
Davis is averaging 20 points, 11 rebounds, two steals and four blocks, putting up the type of numbers the NBA has only seen from Hakeem Olajuwon and David Robinson.
“That's why you have summer sessions and work with the coaches, work with the team, trainers, whoever, to get better,” Davis said. “I'd be disappointed in myself if I hadn't gotten better.”

The Houston Rockets are engaged in trade talks with multiple teams on Omer Asik, but the asking price of Daryl Morey has been far too high for a deal to get completed.
Asik's agent has been in regular contact with Morey about facilitating a trade.
The Rockets are seeking an impact frontcourt player that can help them in the short-term, or a largely unprotected first-round pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.
A deal involving Asik is unlikely to be consummated before December 15 when players signed in the offseason become eligible for trades.
The Rockets are interested in trading Asik to the New Orleans Pelicans for Ryan Anderson. Anderson previously played with Dwight Howard during their time together with the Orlando Magic.
Asik has two seasons and $20 million remaining on his contract.

The New Orleans Pelicans don't have a player on their roster older than 28, but the collection of young players have a lot of experience being in the league since they were teenagers.
“When we put the group together, that was something that was important to us; of course we have a lot of young guys but we also have guys with experience,” said Dell Demps. “Look at Jrue Holiday going into his fifth year, Eric Gordon going into his sixth year, Ryan Anderson sixth year. We have guys that are young but yet experienced. I think that’s a sign of the new NBA where guys come into the league younger now. What I am hoping is these guys kind of are through the learning curve and understand the league now and take that next step.”
Anthony Davis is expected to be the cornerstone of the franchise.
“He’s really committed to getting better, which is exciting,” Demps said. “It’s fun watching the development and the commitment that he has made in the offseason and we’re seeing the dividends in training camp.”
