May 20, 2015 12:17 PM

Scott Brooks is passing on opportunities to interview with the Denver Nuggets and New Orleans Pelicans. Brooks appears inclined to sit out the entire 15-16 season.

Brooks has a 338-207 career coaching record following his tenure with the Oklahoma City Thunder and wants to return to the sideline at some point in the future. Brooks was fired by the Thunder this offseason.

Thunder Interested In Monty Williams, Andy Greer, Nate Tibbets As Assistants

May 16, 2015 9:47 PM

Billy Donovan has targeted Monty Williams, Andy Greer and Nate Tibbetts to join his coaching staff with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Williams was recently fired by the New Orleans Pelicans, while Greer is currently an assistant with the Bulls and Tibbetts with the Blazers.

Brian Keefe is another possibility for the Thunder. Keefe left the Thunder last offseason to join Derek Fisher with the New York Knicks.

Keefe is well-regarded among Thunder management and players. Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook are among the players partial to Keefe.

Mike Brown passed on a chance to interview for a spot on Donovan's staff.

Donovan will keep Oklahoma City assistant Mark Bryant and Darko Rajakovic on staff, and make former Alabama coach Anthony Grant his No. 3 assistant coach, league sources said.

Anthony Grant To Join Thunder Coaching Staff

May 8, 2015 12:28 PM

Anthony Grant will join the Oklahoma City Thunder as an assistant coach, according to The Gainesville Sun.

Grant was an assistant for Billy Donovan at Marshall and Florida until 2006.

While at VCU, Grant produced three solid years, compiling a 76-25 record and making two NCAA Tournaments. In 2007, his Rams squad, led by former Thunder point guard Eric Maynor, upset Duke in the first round.

Following the 2009 season, Grant was hired by Alabama. While in Tuscaloosa, his squads improved during his first three seasons on the job, making the NCAA Tournament in 2012 for the school’s first time in six years.

Russell Westbrook To Represent Thunder At Lottery

May 5, 2015 11:04 PM

Russell Westbrook will be representing the Oklahoma City Thunder at this month's lottery.

The Thunder haven't been in the lottery since they won the third overall pick in 2009 and drafted James Harden.

"Every draft pick is viewed as an opportunity, or an option of sorts for the club," said Sam Presti. "Will Dawkins and our amateur scouting department have done a great job this year of planning for various scenarios within the draft. It is up to us to sort through ways that we might be able to use the draft pick to generate the most value for the organization. This could mean picking the best available player, looking to trade the pick, or any other myriad of concepts that we are exploring each day. Russell Westbrook will be representing the organization at the Lottery, and I told him the other day that if people watching at home do not have to adjust the brightness on their television screen based on what he is wearing, I will be really surprised. That or something sans sleeves.

Donovan Wants Westbrook To 'Be Able To Be Who He Is'

May 4, 2015 1:04 PM

Billy Donovan wants to establish a personal relationship with Russell Westbrook before they begin to discuss the basketball aspects of their partnership.

“I want to be able to sit down with Russell and talk to him and see how he’s feeling and what’s going through his mind,” said Donovan.

“The one thing I would say with Russell, I don’t want to at ever feel that with a new coach coming in, I want to hold him back or change him,” Donovan said. “He’s a great player. Has great passion, great heart, great intensity. I want him to be able to be who he is. I think that’s what the Thunder organization is about. Just like they’re trying to let me be who I am as a coach, I need to let Russell be who he is as a player.”

Mychal Thompson: Warriors Plan To Go Hard After Kevin Durant In 2016

May 1, 2015 1:45 PM

The Golden State Warriors plan on pursuing Kevin Durant when he becomes a free agent in 2016, according to Mychal Thompson.

Thompson is the father of Klay Thompson.

“I also heard it on good authority from a team that plays in the Bay Area that they’re going to go hard after Kevin Durant,” said Mychal Thompson.

With the salary cap going up, the Warriors may have enough space to sign Durant to a max contract if they make a few cap-cutting moves.
