John Wall Prepared To Help In Wizards' Pitch To Kevin Durant

Sep 28, 2015 11:50 AM

John Wall is prepared to help recruit Kevin Durant to the Washington Wizards.

If Durant seriously entertains leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Wizards are considered a frontrunner due to their young backcourt and because it is where he grew up.

"There's gonna be an opportunity to throw a pitch at him to try to get him to come back home," Wall told Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic.

Durant was on the sidelines of a football game between Washington and the New York Giants last week.

"But I know one thing of just knowing him he's going to be very focused on taking care of Oklahoma City this season, and I'm going to be focused on taking care of the Washington Wizards," Wall said. "But when the time is right and he can get away from all that, yeah, we'll probably have some conversation and throw a pitch."

Durant is already playing 5-on-5 without restrictions.

Presti was asked if Durant's minutes may be reduced.

"I think that's something that Billy (Donovan) and Kevin and our medical team will work on."

"I think we have a really good team," Durant said during an event in Madrid promoting the new edition of his Nike signature sneaker. "We have to come together and play as one, and that's harder than people realize. But we're ready to take on the challenge. We're under the radar, exactly where we want to be, and looking forward to having a good season. And yes, I'm still the best player in the world."

Durant had multiple surgeries on his foot over the past year.

Thunder, Nike Already Discussing Logo Redesign

Sep 8, 2015 12:12 PM

The Oklahoma City Thunder are expected to undergo an overhaul of their logo when Nike takes over for Adidas in 2017.

Nike and the Thunder are already talking, and the Thunder “haven’t ruled out” a more explicit weather-related secondary mark, senior vice president for sales and marketing Brian Byrnes said.

The Thunder, however, are unlikely to move away from the shield motif.

“To some extent, we are committed to the idea we have,” Byrnes said. “But we would not dismiss good feedback, particularly from Nike. We’re open to modernizing the logo, but we don’t have an appetite to overhaul it.”

When the logo was designed, it was intended to invoke both storms and a rampaging bison.
