Turkey Issues Arrest Warrant For Enes Kanter

May 27, 2017 12:10 PM

Turkey has issued an arrest warrant for Enes Kanter, accusing him of being a member of a "terror group."

A judge issued the arrest warrant after an Istanbul prosecutor opened an investigation into Kanter's alleged "membership of an armed terrorist organisation", Sabah daily reported.

Kanter previously backed Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen in Twitter postings after an attempted putsch last July aimed at ousting President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Kanter has compared Erdogan to Adolf Hitler and was detained in Romania at the weekend after being informed that his Turkish passport had been cancelled

Thunder Considering Stretch Provision For Kyle Singler

May 11, 2017 3:59 AM

The Oklahoma City Thunder could use the stretch provision on Kyle Singler this offseason.

Singler is owed $9.7 million in guaranteed money on his contract. The final season of his contract is non-guaranteed.

The Thunder could spread out Singler's cap hit to $1.4 million per year over seven years.

Oklahoma City would create $3.3 million in cap room for 17-18 and $3.6 million for 18-19.

“Of course I want to do the best that I can,” Singler said. “And with that being said, I have a whole lot to look at. It’s not just [about] what I've done in the past. It’s what I'm going to do in the future, as well.”

Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook Back On Speaking Terms

May 9, 2017 5:43 AM

Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook are back on speaking terms after Kendrick Perkins brokered a phone call.

The call took place after Westbrook broke Oscar Robertson's triple-double record in April.

Perkins had been attempting to "figure out a way to try to make them talk again, because I felt like the outside world was putting a beef there that really wasn't too serious," that Durant messaged him with the news. Perkins spoke about the relationship during TNT's "Area 21".

"I think the night that Russ actually broke the record, I had texted KD," Perkins said. "The next day, he was talking about something and he sent me a text and was like, 'Me and Russ had a nice conversation.' The media don't even know nothing about it, but I just let it be known that they're back on talking terms, the differences are aside."

Perkins added that Durant could eventually return to the Thunder.

"I wouldn't be surprised -- if KD makes a little run, I wouldn't be surprised if he goes back to Oklahoma," Perkins said. "Because in my opinion, I don't think Russ is going anywhere. He's that type of guy. He just wants to stick it out, and he just wants you to give him those pieces and he just wants to roll with it. He's not going and trying to run and chase [titles]. And one thing about it, he's not begging nobody to come play with him."

Both Westbrook and Durant weren't interested in talking about their relationship during All-Star Weekend when they were teammates.

Thunder Hoping To Find 'Common Ground' With Andre Roberson

May 2, 2017 10:16 AM

Andre Roberson and the Oklahoma City Thunder have mutual interest in a deal in restricted free agency.

“Every indication we've had from Dre and from his people, his agent, is that he loves playing here,” Sam Presti said. “And I've always said this to everybody before: When the player shows an interest in being here, it really exponentially helps your opportunity to get a contract done, if you would like to.”

Presti also said another team's offer sheet “decreases the chances” of re-signing a free agent.

“We need them to be fair with us,” Presti said. “We have to be fair with them and try to find a common ground.”

Thunder 'Hopeful' Of Signing Russell Westbrook To Supermax Extension

May 1, 2017 8:57 PM

Sam Presti and the Oklahoma City Thunder are hopeful they will be able to sign Russell Westbrook to an extension this summer.

Under the NBA's new CBA, the Thunder can sign Westbrook to a five-year, $217 million supermax. Westbrook signed a three-year, $85 million extension with the Thunder last summer one month after Kevin Durant left the franchise for the Golden State Warriors.

"The rules are that you can't have that conversation until July 1, and you know, when that time comes, we'll sit down, we'll have conversations with him about what that opportunity presents," Presti said Monday at his end-of-season availability. "And you know, we're obviously hopeful that he remains really excited about being a part of this organization for the remainder of his career."

Westbrook has a player option on the final year of that contract that can allow him to be a free agent in 2018.

If Westbrook doesn't sign an extension this summer, Presti says he hasn't considered whether they would trade him.

"Let's not think so far ahead," Presti said. "Let's just see where the information takes us. I understand the question. I think the biggest thing is, we had that conversation with Russell last year, and you know, he was really clear, and it worked itself out. So before we get all the way down the road on what if, what if this happens, what if that happens: Again, that's one of those things where we're talking about a very complex question, a very complex situation with a lot of moving parts, and looking for, like, a simple answer to that."
