Richaun Holmes, 76ers Agree To Terms On Multi-Year Deal

Jul 30, 2015 2:23 AM

76ers second round selection Richaun Holmes has agreed to terms on a multi-year rookie contract with Philadelphia, league sources told RealGM.

Holmes was selected with the 37th overall pick in the June NBA Draft by the 76ers, a rapid riser through the pre-draft process. The first two seasons of Holmes' deal will be fully guaranteed, sources said.

Holmes posted 29 points, 15 rebounds, four blocks and three steals in 56 total minutes in three games before suffering a broken elbow in a summer league game. The 6-foot-10 forward continued to play through the injury, checking back into the game after his fall.

Holmes, 21, has made significant strides in his recovery from a broken elbow and is expected to be fully healthy for 76ers training camp.

A two-way big man, Holmes averaged 14.8 points and eight rebounds in his senior season at Bowling Green.

Cavs Likely To Settle For TPE In Exchange For Haywood's Contract

Jul 23, 2015 6:03 PM

The Cleveland Cavaliers hope to soon trade Brendan Haywood for a traded player exception.

The Cavaliers have shopped the non-guaranteed contract of Haywood around the NBA, including talks with the Brooklyn Nets on Joe Johnson. They haven't been able to find a deal to their liking and could instead trade Haywood for a traded player exception.

The Cavs used a trade exception they created last summer to trade for Timofey Mozgov during last season.

The Portland Trail Blazers and Philadelphia 76ers are the only teams currently with enough cap space to absorb Haywood and create a trade exception for Cleveland. The Cavs might need to surrender a draft pick to create the incentive for either team to help the Cavaliers with the TPE.

Joel Embiid Re-Broke Navicular Bone In Right Foot

Jul 21, 2015 11:36 AM

Joel Embiid re-broke the same navicular bone in his right foot, according to sources.

On June 13th, the Philadelphia 76ers released a statement that Embiid's foot wasn't healing as much as had been anticipated. On July 11th, the 76ers released a statement that Embiid would undergo season-ending surgery.

Jahlil Okafor had known for a couple of weeks that Embiid would miss the entire season.

Between the season ending and the June 13 statement, a source said Embiid was working out daily at the team's practice facility. When asked if Embiid was playing five-on-five, the source said that he hadn't, but "only because there weren't enough people to play five-on-five. He was playing very meaningful games of three-on-three and was doing full-court workouts. He is pretty much a full go."
