Brett Brown Intends To Finish Four-Year Contract With 76ers

Sep 24, 2015 2:29 PM

Brett Brown expects to complete his four-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers.

The 76ers have won just 19 and 18 games in the first two seasons of Brown's tenure as the franchise rebuilds under Sam Hinkie.

"I signed a four-year contract and my intention is to see it through," Brown said. "For whatever reason, I personally feel connected to this city and enjoy the people of this city."

If Brown doesn't get an extension, he would enter 16-17 with lame-duck status.

"I just don't want to talk about it," he said. "I've said what I have to say. I'm just really excited to coach the group and I'd be disappointed in myself it I commented many sentences beyond what I've just done as it relates to my contract."

76ers Pursued Jimmy Butler, Kawhi Leonard In Restricted Free Agency

Sep 23, 2015 4:24 PM

The Philadelphia 76ers broached the possibility of signing Jimmy Butler and Kawhi Leonard to an offer sheet during their restricted free agency. Their interest was described as "due diligence."

But there was little chance of either playing choosing to sign with the 76ers at this stage in their rebuild.

The 76ers almost entirely sat out free agency, not even pursuing younger players on cheap contracts.

J.P. Tokoto Agrees To One-Year Deal With 76ers

Sep 7, 2015 4:18 PM

The Philadelphia 76ers have agreed upon a one-year deal with J.P. Tokoto.

Tokoto was the 58th overall pick out of North Carolina in the 2015 NBA Draft.

Tokoto agreed to a non-guaranteed $525,000 tender offer, which would make him a restricted free agent in 2016. The 76ers would have to make him a qualifying offer to keep Tokoto.

Tokoto will likely share time between Philadelphia and its NBA Development League affiliate in Delaware. Tokoto played for the Sixers' summer league teams in Las Vegas and Utah.
