April 2016 Phoenix Suns Wiretap

Tyson Chandler Not Interested In Being Part Of Rebuilding Project

Mar 19, 2016 9:56 PM

Tyson Chandler is in the first season of a four-year, $52 million deal with the Phoenix Suns.

The Suns' season fell apart and Chandler also is finally beginning to show his age.

In February, Chandler said he's "not jumping ship" but that position may be changing.

"For me, especially where I am in my career, I want to win," Chandler said Friday. "I want to win now. I'm not in any kind of rebuilding stage. So if that's the case, it ain't where I'm supposed to be."

With so much cap space available to teams this summer, it should be easier to trade Chandler than it would be in most years but the three remaining years on his deal will be difficult for teams to feel comfortable taking on.

Goran Dragic On Suns: I Was Glad As Soon As I Got Out Of There

Mar 3, 2016 12:52 PM

Goran Dragic requested a trade from the Phoenix Suns before the 2015 deadline and the franchise has continued to struggle ever since.

The Suns are 25-63 since trading Dragic and fired Jeff Hornacek earlier in the season.

“I was glad as soon as I got out of there,” Dragic said. “I didn’t feel comfortable with them and you never knew what to expect. I want to be in a good situation with a good organization. I know about that situation, but I’m not following it anymore.”

Suns Thought They Had Amar'e For Steph Deal Done During 2009 NBA Draft

Mar 2, 2016 11:35 AM

The Phoenix Suns believed they had a deal with the Golden State Warriors on the night of the 2009 NBA Draft involving Amar'e Stoudemire for the No. 7 pick.

The Suns' draft room exploded when the Minnesota Timberwolves drafted Ricky Rubio and Jonny Flynn, which left Stephen Curry available.

But the Warriors nixed the trade once Curry fell to that spot.

“We told Minnesota that Steph didn’t want to go there,” said Dell Curry. “We had no idea that they had agreed to a trade. Obviously, they couldn’t put that out. I remember (then-Suns general manager) Steve Kerr calling me (the following morning) and saying, ‘Don’t go to the press conference. We have a trade that they reneged on.’ I’m like, ‘That’s between you guys. We’re going wherever they tell us. We can’t not go.’"

The Suns thought they could draft Jordan Hill at No. 7 if Curry didn't fall.

The Suns proceeded with their next pick at No. 14 believing they had Curry, drafting Earl Clark instead of Jrue Holiday.

After going undrafted in 2013, Pressey recorded four double-digit scoring games as a rookie with Boston, including a career-high 20 points at Washington on Jan. 22, 2014.
