Suns' Fans Close Out Season With 'We Want Steve' Chant

The US Airways Center crowd began a "We want Steve" chant during the fourth quarter of the final game for the Suns of the 11-12 season.

The game could be Steve Nash's last in a Suns' uniform.

"It was obviously amazing to get that type of reception and support," said Nash. "It's very special because it's not something I asked for or imagined. To get that type of spontaneous reaction means it's authentic, the relationship I thought we had. It’s great. It really feels special. The fans have been phenomenal and it's meant a lot to me to play in a city like this for as long as I have and to feel important to the fans and the community. I just feel like a very lucky guy."

Nash will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason and intends to play three more seasons.

“I’m going to have to obviously sit down and consider my options and maybe predict and evaluate possibilities but I’m in no rush," said Nash. "I think it’s important to take my time and just gain some perspective on what’s happened in my career and what the future may hold. Just a lot of speculation at this point.”

Pacers, Suns, Blazers, Mavericks Interested In Eric Gordon

Eric Gordon has enjoyed his time with New Orleans, though he has been limited to just five games this season.

Gordon will be a restricted free agent this summer after his agent, Rob Pelinka, and the Hornets were unsuccessful in their attempt to negotiate an extension.

"The first thing I'd say is that we have a very underrated coach," Gordon said by phone on Tuesday. "He's one of the best coaches out there, and we're definitely an underrated team. I know our record [16-42] doesn't speak for itself, but I've been out more than half the season. The Hornets really do have good fans, too. I really can't say too many negatives about it.

"Overall, it's better than what people probably would think if they hadn't lived here. It's been enjoyable."

The Hornets will be able to match any offer Gordon receives on the open market.

"We want him here for the long term; we're looking forward to signing him this summer," Hornets general manager Dell Demps told SI.com. "We think he is a big-time player who can score, and we're thrilled to have him. He's a big part of our plans for the future."

Sources close to the situation said Indiana, Phoenix, Portland and Dallas are among the teams with interest in Gordon.

Nash Interested In Three-Year Deal

Steve Nash strongly disputed a report that his back was as "bad as it has ever been" and said that he would like to sign a three-year deal this summer.

"It's been my best year physically from start to finish in a long time," Nash said. "Other than a little tweak (last week) against San Antonio, my back's been pretty close to 100 percent."

Nash is interested in re-signing with the Suns, though he is expected to pursue other options in free agency.
