Aldridge Sprains Ankle In Portland's Win

Dec 31, 2009 7:16 AM

Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge sprained his left ankle in the team's win over the Clippers on Wednesday night.

Aldridge left the game with 5:40 left in the first quarter.

"This has gone past crazy," Portland coach Nate McMillan said. "It's bad luck, or whatever, to continue to see our guys drop the way that we are. To walk into the locker room and see LaMarcus Aldridge in a boot -- not just a swollen ankle -- but a boot. It's a credit to these guys."

Aldridge was averaging 16.3 points and eight rebounds entering Wednesday's game.

Blazers Set To Sign Shavlik Randolph

Dec 30, 2009 7:57 AM

Portland could sign free-agent forward Shavlik Randolph as soon as Wednesday, a source told the Oregonian.

Randolph appeared in 10 games for the Trail Blazers last season.

He will be signed to a non-guaranteed contract and will take the place of Anthony Tolliver, who was waived Tuesday.

Randolph will be Portland's hardship exception player granted by the NBA, meaning he will have to be released when the team gets back one of its injured players.

Blazers Waive Tolliver, Assign Mills To NBDL

Dec 29, 2009 5:57 PM

In a pair of roster moves, the Portland Trail Blazers waived forward Anthony Tolliver and assigned guard Patty Mills to the NBA Development League's Idaho Stampede, it was announced Tuesday by General Manager Kevin Pritchard.

Tolliver appeared in two games for the Trail Blazers, grabbing a rebound in four minutes. He was called up from the Stampede on Dec. 17 after the NBA awarded Portland a hardship exemption.

Mills, selected by the Trail Blazers with the 55th overall pick in the second round of the 2009 NBA Draft, will join the Stampede on Wednesday. The Australian national fractured the fifth metatarsal in his right foot during an NBA Summer League practice session July 9. He underwent surgery on July 13 and recently completed a successful rehabilitation.

Roy Stayed Away From Family On Christmas

Dec 26, 2009 9:30 PM

Portland guard Brandon Roy scored 41 points in the team's Christmas night victory over the Nuggets.

After opening gifts with his wife and kids in the morning, Roy said he virtually sequestered himself from his family for the remainder of the day.

He gave his parents their gifts when they arrived at his house, but returned to his bedroom shortly after until it was time for him to leave for the Rose Garden.

Roy went 8-for-20 from the field last Christmas in a loss to Dallas.

"I just felt like last year I didn't approach the Christmas Day game like I should," Roy said. "I enjoyed the day. Today, I said, 'No. I have a game tonight. I'm going to relax.' My family understood that."

Portland Seeks Hardship Exemption

Dec 24, 2009 9:08 AM

The Trail Blazers will seek a hardship exemption from the NBA after center Joel Przybilla suffered a major knee injury on Tuesday night.

Przybilla ruptured the right patella tendon and also suffered a dislocated patella in Portland's game against Dallas.

The hardship exemption would allow the team to sign another player, but they must wait until Przybilla has missed three games.

The Blazers already received one hardship exemption, which they used to sign Anthony Tolliver as a temporary player.

Only eight of Portland's 15 players with guaranteed contracts were healthy enough to play on Wednesday night.
