Portland Has 'Zero' Interest In Trading Miller

Jan 25, 2010 4:33 PM

Trail Blazers general manager Kevin Pritchard insists that the team isn't going to trade point guard Andre Miller.

Following a 30-minute confrontation with coach Nate McMillan on Jan. 7, Miller has done an about-face in Portland.

Miller is averaging 19.5 points, 7.5 assists, 4.3 rebounds and is shooting 51.3 percent in January.

"We have no interest in trading Andre Miller. Zero. None. Write it," Pritchard told the Oregonian.

Agent Andy Miller confirmed that everything is finally coming together for his client and the Trail Blazers.

"Maybe it's later than everyone would have hoped, but clearly everything has come together," the agent said. "This is where we should have been in October -- it wouldn't have been as interesting writing for you -- but all the pent-up frustrations, all the misinterpretations and misjudgments, it's righted itself."

Doctors Clear Batum, But McMillan Isn't Convinced

Jan 24, 2010 6:03 PM

Portland forward Nicolas Batum is on pace to make his season debut on Monday night against New Orleans.

"I will play Monday," Batum said Saturday night.

Batum has been cleared by both the doctor that performed surgery on his right shoulder and Portland's team doctor, but he still needs to convince coach Nate McMillan that he's ready.

McMillan doesn't want Batum to return too soon.

Batum has participated in just one full practice ?- Thursday in Boston ?- and he stopped a two-on-two workout because his right shoulder wastoo sore.

However, he went through a rigorous workout with assistant coach Monty Williams during pregame shootaround on Saturday and experienced no pain.

Miller Passes West On All-Time Assist List

Jan 23, 2010 5:40 PM

Portland point guard Andre Miller passed Jerry West on the NBA's all-time assist list on Friday night.

Miller had 28 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists in a loss to Boston.

The assist that moved him past West was a fourth quarter zip pass through traffic that Steve Blake caught for a basket with 9:48 left in regulation.

"I don't think about that too much," said Miller, who now has 6,240 career assists. "But I will probably look back at it after my career and see where I fall."

He's now 24th on the all-time assist list.

Blazers Will Trade For Big 'If It Makes Sense'

Jan 21, 2010 12:26 PM

Kevin Pritchard is open to making a deal to bolster Portland's injured frontcourt.

?If it makes sense, we?ll do it,? said Pritchard. ?We?re not opposed to making a deal, that?s for sure.?

Pritchard says he has had the normal amount of conversation with fellow GMs for this time of year.

?As the deadline gets closer, there becomes more. The way it usually happens, the trade deadline is the catalyst to getting something done. When there?s a deadline, you look at things pretty hard.?

When asked if he thinks Portland needs help in the middle, Pritchard is reasonably direct.

?I like what I?ve seen out of Juwan (Howard),? he says. ?Jeff (Pendergraph) is doing a good job. He?s learning. Guys are getting some valuable experience. I like that part of it. But if you were going to point to one place (for a position need), it?s getting another big.?

Pritchard does see his Greg Oden and Joel Przybilla as his big men in the long term.

?Long-term, I love Greg and Joel for us.?
