The Trail Blazers are considering signing veteran forward Kenny Thomas.

Thomas, 32, is among a few candidates to fill Portland's 15th roster spot.

Roy Calls Miller 'Right Choice' Over Turkoglu

Feb 25, 2010 9:52 AM

Brandon Roy referenced Portland's free agency of last summer when they thought they had Hedo Turkoglu in their grasps, only to see him end up in Toronto and eventually sign Andre Miller instead.

"Even though Andre may not have been the first choice, it has come down to him being the right choice," Blazers star Brandon Roy said. "The way he has been playing for us, he has been our most important guy because of how consistent he has been."

Said Miller: "I guess it has worked out for everybody."

Rudy Fernandez, Real Madrid Share Mutual Interest

Feb 24, 2010 9:41 AM

Real Madrid wants to sign Rudy Fernandez following the current season. Fernandez is reportedly uncomfortable in Portland and would be amenable to a return.

Fernandez appeared open to the idea when interviewed by Eurosport.

"Right now, in this situation, I don't rule out anything," said Fernandez. "Because I just want to play. I don't mind where."

Fernandez spoke of the difference in not playing beside Sergio Rodriguez.

"Last year we had a different team and at least I had Sergio, who understood my game. I have noticed a change this year. I don't get the ball as much and the system is different."

Camby Leaves Game With Sprained Ankle

Feb 24, 2010 5:43 AM

Trail Blazers center Marcus Camby had to leave the team's game against the Nets on Tuesday night with a sprained ankle.

It was just his third game with the team since he was acquired from the Clippers on Feb. 16.

Camby was hurt when Nets center Brook Lopez stepped on his right ankle as they waited for a rebound early in the first quarter.

"I contested a shot [by Devin Harris] and I think Lopez stepped on my ankle," Camby said. "My momentum went the other way. It is pretty sore right now."

X-rays were negative and coach Nate McMillan didn't consider the injury to be serious.

"Hey, Camby, welcome to Portland," McMillan said referring to Portland's injury-plagued season. "It's amazing what our guys are going through. I think he's going to be OK."

Portland 'Open Minded' About 15th Man

Feb 22, 2010 6:33 AM

The Trail Blazers are looking over their options as they prepare to add a 15th man to their roster.

"We're putting together a list of guys we at least want to discuss. We have a couple positions we feel we're going to look at for players. A lot depends on who is being bought out," Mike Born, Portland's director of scouting, told Beyond the Beat.

The Blazers remain "open minded," but they appear to be focused on adding either a big man or a point guard.

"If a big man became available and maybe just wasn't playing a lot, I think we would definitely look at that. You're always looking for big bodies. There's nothing like having a 6'9" or 6'10", 260 or 265 pound body you can put out there," explained Born.

Pritchard Sees Increase In Aggressive Trades Being Made By Rivals

Feb 19, 2010 7:56 PM

According to Kevin Pritchard, the Trail Blazers did what they needed to do keep pace in the Western Conference race, though they didn?t take some of the more drastic steps teams like the Rockets, Cavaliers and Mavericks opted to take.

?The Eastern Conference, there?s some high-level teams, but there?s a lot of good teams in the Western Conference that are just vying to get into the playoffs,? said Pritchard. ?And I wouldn?t say it was Armageddon, but I felt like a lot of teams were willing to make changes they haven?t been in the past. I do like that it?s going to be competitive. And I?ve always said if we?re going to be the best, we?ve got to go through the best. We feel like Marcus gives us a chance to be a tough out.?

Camby Hopes He Can Stick In Portland

Feb 19, 2010 3:59 PM

After the initial shock of being traded by the Clippers, Marcus Camby is now looking to remain with the Trail Blazers.

Camby's contract expires after the season.

"Hopefully things work out for myself and for the team these last couple of months of the season," Camby said.

"In talking with management and guys here, they don't consider me a rental player. Hopefully there will be a chance for me long-term. I would definitely like to be here."

"If everything comes together, I don't see any reason why he wouldn't re-sign here," says agent Rick Kaplan. "There was a lot of interest in other teams for the summer, but my hope is it clicks here.

"Marcus has never really tested the free-agent market. He signed an extension in New York and opted out but immediately signed a new deal with Denver. He's about loyalty to where he is."

Roy Concerned Season Could Be Over Due To Bad Hamstring

Feb 17, 2010 5:39 PM

Portland star Brandon Roy is concerned that he could miss the remainder of the season.

Roy has been plagued by a nagging strained right hamstring since Jan. 2.

"I ... turned to LaMarcus (during Tuesday's game) and he was like, 'So what do you do next?' Roy said. "I was like, 'I don't know. I don't know where to go.' "

The All-Star tried to play on Tuesday night for the first time in 12 games, but it didn't go well. He only managed to play 15 rough minutes.

"I don't regret playing," Roy said. "I didn't feel like this would be any different Friday. That's the reason I feel like things are in jeopardy."

Update: Roy practiced on Wednesday and appeared to be feeling much better physically.
