Stoudemire Likes Being Villain In Portland

Apr 29, 2010 4:11 PM

Suns forward Amar'e Stoudemire is expected to hear a chorus of boos from fans in Portland on Thursday night.

Trail Blazers forward Nicolas Batum called Stoudemire "dirty" after Game 3, during which Stoudemire threw an elbow at LaMarcus Aldridge.

He was handed a Flagrant Foul 1 the next day.

Batum also accused Stoudemire of taking a shot at his injured shoulder in Game 4.

"Phoenix Suns, dirty players," Suns coach Alvin Gentry said. "Wow, we've come a long ways. Amar'e's not a dirty player. He's not even close to being a dirty player and neither do I think that anybody on their team is a dirty player. It's the same thing that happens in any playoff series. When you play somebody five times, there's going to be a little snippiness."

Stoudemire is fine with his role as Phoenix looks to close out the series.

"That's fine," Stoudemire said. "I love it. It definitely gets me riled up. I play better that way. It's the playoffs. Both teams have been physical.

"They're loud but it doesn't bother me. When you're home, it's great because your fans are with you. When you're away, it's almost a little bit better to me because they're loud and they're against you. It motivates me. When you win, it feels great."

Roy Wants To Start In Game 6

Apr 27, 2010 2:25 PM

Portland guard Brandon Roy has been coming off the bench since his dramatic return from knee surgery, but he doesn't plan to do that in the team's do-or-die Game 6.

The Trail Blazers are down 3-2 to the Suns as the series shifts back to the Rose Garden.

"I'm gonna ask to start," Roy said following Portland's Game 5 loss to Phoenix on Monday night.

"It's hard to get involved. I don't think the guys are quite used to me coming off the bench and it's hard for me to get my touches and try to get in a rhythm, so hopefully I'll be able to get back into the starting lineup."

"Now we have reached the Euroleague. Where should I go?" said Claver.

"I can't explain how big is the emotion when you win a title with your life team" added Claver who was drafted 22nd overall by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2009 NBA Draft. "I don't think at NBA right now. I renewed by contract with Valencia because I want to grow and improve with them".

McMillan 'Got Chills' When Roy Entered Game

Apr 25, 2010 10:43 AM

Portland guard Brandon Roy made a surprise return on Saturday a little more than a week after knee surgery.

The Trail Blazers defeated the Suns 96-87 in Game 4 with help from Roy, who scored 10 points in 27 minutes.

"I thought he lifted us tonight, and we needed that lift," coach Nate McMillan said. "The last two games we have been just flat, and I just got chills when he got up and the crowd saw he was going up to the scorer's table. I know our players fed off that, the emotions and energy in the building of having him back."

The series is tied at two games apiece as Game 5 heads to Phoenix.

Blazers Remain 'Open' To Roy Returning

Apr 21, 2010 8:14 AM

The Trail Blazers are leaving open the possibility that All-Star Brandon Roy could return this postseason.

Roy had minor surgery last Friday to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee.

He shot free throws on Monday and moved around on the knee without any swelling or pain.

"He looks terrific, he really does," general manager Kevin Pritchard said. "And Brandon feels really good. Does that mean he is going to play? No. It means we are going to leave the option open."
