Danny Ferry is expected to turn down an offer to become general manager of the Blazers, according to a source close to the situation.
Ferry was concerned with the nature of how Kevin Pritchard and Tom Penn were fired after he had a meddling owner of his own in Cleveland.
Ferry responded to the CBS Sports report in a conversation with the Portland Roundball Society.
?I can truthfully say that I have not turned down the job because it has not been offered to me,? said Ferry.
The Trail Blazers will meet with Danny Ferry on Wednesday about their general manager vacancy, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
It was reported on June 5 that the Blazers had hired a search firm to identify and feel out potential candidates, Ferry has steadily stayed near the top of Portland's wish list.
The Trail Blazers have waived forward Ryan Gomes.
Gomes, along with Luke Babbitt (16th overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft), was acquired in a draft day trade with the Timberwolves for guard/forward Martell Webster.
Danny Ferry is seriously interested in becoming the next general manager of the Trail Blazers, a source close to Ferry told the Columbian.
Ferry served as general manager in Cleveland for five years, but chose not to re-sign with the team earlier this month.
Portland reportedly contacted Ferry through a job-hunting firm before Kevin Pritchard was fired last week.
Amar'e Stoudemire's agent will have "further conversations" with the Suns prior to the start of free agency.
Most likely, the Suns' only hope of keeping Stoudemire is to make him a maximum-salary contract offer, which still may not be enough. Steve Kerr and David Griffin are out of the loop while owner Robert Sarver and Alvin Gentry handle the meeting with Stoudemire in Los Angeles.
The Trail Blazers acquired forward Ryan Gomes from the Timberwolves on draft night, but they are could ship him out of town quickly.
Portland has until Tuesday to make a decision about Gomes and they have engaged in trade talks.
Danny Ferry has emerged as one of the first front-office targets of the Trail Blazers after they abruptly fired Kevin Pritchard on draft night, according to sources with knowledge of Portland's thinking.
The Blazers have also been interested in Sam Presti and R.C. Buford, but those are unrealistic targets.
Ferry's level of interest in the job is not yet known. Ferry declined comment when reached via phone by ESPN.com.
Rudy Fernandez has confirmed interest from Olympiacos SPORT, Regal FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and Unicaja, among many others.
Fernandez's preference, however, is to remain in the NBA.
If Fernandez is stuck with Portland or another team unattractive to him, Barcelona becomes the favorite.
The Blazers will waive Ryan Gomes, who was acquired as part of the Luke Babbitt deal.
Gomes doesn't have a guaranteed contract for 10-11 if he is waived by June 30th.
