Jul 8, 2014 6:32 PM

LaMarcus Aldridge will not sign a contract extension with the Portland Trail Blazers this offseason, but he plans to do so next summer.

Aldridge said he believes it will make more financial sense for him to wait until next summer when he can sign a five-year, $108 million deal.

"I'm happy to stay (in Portland), happy to be here, happy with the direction the team has gone the last year or 2," Aldridge said. "But I just want to get a 5-year deal. I feel like that’s the best decision on my part."

Aldridge added he wants to finish his career with the Blazers.

"I want to be the best Blazer. Ever."
