Kings' Minority Owners Concerned With How Vivek Ranadive Runs Franchise

Oct 23, 2015 12:41 PM

The minority owners of the Sacramento Kings have been engaged in serious conversations about how Vivek Ranadive has run the franchise as chairman.

Ranadive fired Mike Malone last December, hired George Karl as head coach and Vlade Divac as top decision-maker. There was more potential upheaval in the offseason when tension between DeMarcus Cousins and Karl came to light.

The Kings' minority owners are powerless to do anything under the franchise's governing documents unless Ranadive accepts an offer to sell his controlling stake.

George Karl Apologized To DeMarcus Cousins In Offseason

Oct 5, 2015 12:30 PM

George Karl admitted apologizing to DeMarcus Cousins during a meeting facilitated by Vlade Divac during the offseason.

Karl had suggested every player on the Sacramento Kings was tradeable.

“What I said, I should not have said,” Karl reiterated Friday. “But we all make mistakes. I make mistakes with game-planning, make mistakes coaching. DeMarcus makes mistakes. I think he was a little surprised (laugh) to hear me say that I make mistakes and that I’m going to ‘bleep up’ again.”
