Kings Could Make Another Run At John Calipari

Nov 20, 2015 1:44 PM

Vivek Ranadive remains interested in hiring John Calipari as head coach for the Sacramento Kings.

Without a dramatic turnaround in on-floor results and locker room chemistry, George Karl is unlikely to remain head coach beyond current season.

"Ranadivé’s biggest dream is to have Kentucky coach John Calipari come out and coach this roster full of Kentucky players.

"The belief is that Ranadive will take another run after Calipari plans to make an offer that Calipari simply cannot refuse."

Report: Ranadive Has Interest In Nancy Lieberman As Interim If George Karl Fired

Nov 20, 2015 1:08 PM

The Sacramento Kings continue to have a situation of turmoil and instability with George Karl battling DeMarcus Cousins.

"The belief still is it’s a matter of when, not if, Karl will be removed as the head coach.

"If that should happen during this season, the short-term answers are, according to owner Vivek Ranadivé – or sources say – he would like to move Nancy Lieberman into the head-coaching position, making a big splash by having the first female head coach in NBA history. Vlade Divac, the GM is more inclined to fill with Corliss Williamson for the remainder of the season.

"But Ranadivé’s biggest dream is to have Kentucky coach John Calipari come out and coach this roster full of Kentucky players.

"The belief is that Ranadive will take another run after Calipari plans to make an offer that Calipari simply cannot refuse.

DeMarcus Cousins Doesn't Want George Karl Fired

Nov 13, 2015 12:09 PM

DeMarcus Cousins has made it clear to executives of the Sacramento Kings that he doesn't want George Karl to be fired despite their current issues.

Cousins knows playing for a fourth coach in two seasons wouldn't put him any closer to winning.

Both sides believe the relationship between Cousins and Karl is "salvageable."

Karl wanted Cousins to be suspended for his outburst this week but was overruled by Vlade Divac. Karl actively pushed for the Kings to move Cousins this offseason and his attempts to mend the relationship were viewed as "halfhearted."

DeMarcus Cousins Ready To Be 'Scapegoat' If It Results In Wins

Nov 12, 2015 7:10 PM

DeMarcus Cousins was asked if there was a lesson learned on Wednesday as he apologized for his incident with George Karl and the Sacramento Kings beat the Detroit Pistons 101-92.

“Just win,” said Cousins. “(Shoot), I’ll take the hit. If it results in this, I’ll take the hit. I’ll be the scapegoat.”

Cousins had 33 points and nine rebounds.

“I think we moved the ball,” Cousins said. “I think the biggest thing was we were playing some defense which led to our offense. Pretty free-flowing game and everything clicked tonight and I think it started with our defense.”

George Karl Has No Interested In Stepping Down As Kings' Coach

Nov 11, 2015 6:14 PM

George Karl and the Sacramento Kings have had a frustrating start to the season but he has no plans to step away.

“I think that’s crazy,” Karl said after Wednesday morning’s shootaround. “I think I have more energy now than I’ve ever had. I’m the lightest I’ve ever been, I eat better than I’ve ever eaten. I feel great.

“My style of coaching has gone (to where) after my second cancer, I delegate a lot more. But I believe in that and I think it’s starting to work at a high, high level.”

Patience is something Karl says he needs to remember to exercise.

“You’re building a team, you’ve got 10 new faces. You’re trying to build a culture and an energy that’s different,” Karl said. “You think it’s going to happen in seven games? Do you really think it’s going to happen in seven games?”

Added Karl: “And it’s not a light switch. It’s a little bit better tonight, a little bit better the next three games, and then you get stronger on the road trip. It’s a process, it’s not like a light switch.”

DeMarcus Cousins went on a profanity-laced tirade against Karl earlier this week.

DeMarcus Cousins Went On Profane Tirade Against George Karl

Nov 11, 2015 6:11 PM

DeMarcus Cousins directed a profanity-laced tirade toward George Karl following the Sacramento Kings' loss this week to the San Antonio Spurs.

Karl wanted Cousins suspended for two games for the incident.

Vlade Divac said Karl did not have authority to suspend Cousins nor would he grant permission.

“There’s a lot of B.S. out there,” Divac said. “I’d just rather not comment on it.”

The Kings have a 1-7 record.

Players have become more frustrated over Karl's style during their six-game losing streak.

Kings' Other Owners Reach All-Time Level Of Frustration With Ranadive

Nov 11, 2015 6:02 PM

Some of the Sacramento Kings' minority owners have an all-time high level of frustration with how Vivek Ranadive has run the franchise.

Ranadive has a track record of making significant decisions without truly consulting with them first.

The Kings have a 1-7 record to begin the season and the job of George Karl is already in jeopardy.

After the Kings lost their sixth straight game, Ranadive brought Drake into their locker room.

DeMarcus Cousins Wants Kings To Have Players-Only Meeting

Nov 10, 2015 11:22 AM

DeMarcus Cousins suggested the Sacramento Kings will have a players-only meeting before their next game.

“It’ll be a players-only meeting,” Cousins said. “… Just to make it clear I believe in every single person in this room. We just got to stay together. That part I’m not worried about. But there are issues we need to figure out.”

Cousins was asked if the issues would be fixed with a few wins.

“I feel like when those issues are fixed, the winning will come,” Cousins said.

The Kings have used seven different starting lineups this season.

“It’s different lineups, man, so people we haven’t necessarily played with before and it’s tough,” Gay said. “Not just on the people that do play, it’s tough on everybody. The guys that do come in and try to fill in the pieces. And we have a lot of young people who are expected to do a lot of things. We just have to be better.”
