Eric Moreland Expected To Decide Among Interest From Lakers, Pistons, Kings

Aug 30, 2015 11:32 PM

Free agent Eric Moreland has multiple deals to compete for a roster spot in NBA training camp, with the Detroit Pistons as frontrunners, league sources told RealGM.

The Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings are strong under consideration for Moreland, sources said, and their front offices expect the 6-foot-10 forward to settle upon a destination once the final offers are presented. The Kings waived Moreland on July 29 before his contract guarantee date for the 2015-16 season.

Moreland would hold strong chances in roster competitions with the Pistons, Lakers and Kings. Detroit will have several forwards battling for final regular season spots, and Los Angeles and Sacramento have openings with 12 and 14 guaranteed contracts, respectively.

After recovering from shoulder surgery, Moreland had an impressive Summer League in Las Vegas for the second consecutive year. He averaged 6.4 points, eight rebounds and two blocks in 20 minutes per game for the Kings’ entry.

Moreland played three regular-season games for the Kings in 2014-15.

Moreland went unselected out of Oregon State in the 2014 NBA draft. Through workouts and the summer league, the 23-year-old earned a three-year contract with the Kings.

'Vast Majority' Within Kings' Organization In Favor Of Trading DeMarcus Cousins

Aug 17, 2015 6:53 PM

DeMarcus Cousins was the subject of trade rumors before the draft, but tension remains between him and the Sacramento Kings' organization with the preseason nearly a month away.

"Sacramento wants to hold onto him. Vivek Ranadive absolutely wants to hold onto DeMarcus Cousins. But I've been told if you polled the rest of the organization, the vast majority are in favor of trading DeMarcus Cousins and that would include, though he denies it, George Karl," said Howard Beck.

Cousins won't become a free agent until 2018.

Vlade Divac has tried to make the situation between Cousins and Karl tenable.

The NBPA is planning to file the grievance to the NBA early next week.

Mbah a Moute has been meeting with NBPA executive director Michele Roberts in Johannesburg this week, where Mbah a Moute, a Cameroon native, has been medically cleared to play for Team Africa against Team World in the first NBA exhibition game in Africa.
