Ty Lawson Agrees Upon One-Year Deal With Kings

Aug 29, 2016 12:24 AM

Ty Lawson has agreed upon a one-year deal with the Sacramento Kings.

Lawson was traded to the Houston Rockets last offseason and finished the season with the Indiana Pacers.

Lawson was one of the NBA's more productive point guards until he had a series of DUI's in 2015.

The Kings had Darren Collison and Garrett Temple already on their depth chart at point guard.

The New Orleans Pelicans also expressed interest in Lawson.

DeMarcus Cousins Open To Playing In 2020 Olympics

Aug 28, 2016 12:59 PM

DeMarcus Cousins is open to playing for Team USA again in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

Cousins won a gold medal in his first Olympics for the United States.

“I’m open to [coming back for Tokyo 2020]. I’ll be older then, so it depends on how my body feels. As of right now, where I’m at, absolutely, I’m open to it,” he said. “I think people don’t understand [how hard this winning is]. They see the guys on the roster and they think automatically, they’re supposed to win. This [international game] isn’t our game. This isn’t the way we play. This is an adjustment for every guy on the roster.

“No matter how much time there is, if guys can come together and mesh and play with some type of chemistry, you’re going to win games. It’s been proven in the past. We’ve had some of the most talented teams in the past and we didn’t win, so it’s not as easy as people think it is.”

Execs Don't Expect DeMarcus Cousins To Re-Sign With Kings In 2018

Aug 26, 2016 4:04 PM

DeMarcus Cousins is expected by many around the NBA to leave the Sacramento Kings in 2018 when he's eligible for free agency.

"They're fooling themselves if they think he's sticking around," said one league executive. "The good news for them is his value will always be high. There isn't a point of no return in which you're not getting high value for him. Teams will bid against each other in the trade market. Maybe [Cousins] doesn't go for the biggest money in free agency but you'd love to have that card to play."

The Kings have two trade deadlines and one offseason to consider trading Cousins before he's free to leave on his own.

Sacramento is hoping Dave Joerger will be able to quickly connect with Cousins the way Michael Malone previously did before he was fired.
