Kabongo went undrafted out of Texas.
Corey Maggette has agreed to a camp deal with the San Antonio Spurs.
Maggette most recently played for the Detroit Pistons.
Sam Young has reached agreement on a contract with the San Antonio Spurs, league sources told RealGM.
A defensive-minded swingman at 6-foot-6, Young received interest from several teams throughout free agency, including the Sacramento Kings and New York Knicks.
Young averaged 2.8 points and 2.2 rebounds last season as part of the Indiana Pacers' bench rotation, receiving significant minutes defending key wing players on opposing teams.
The Spurs lost Gary Neal in free agency this offseason, but they've re-signed Manu Ginobili and added Marco Belinelli and Young. Danny Green is expected to retain his starting role this season.
Young, 28, was the Memphis Grizzlies' second round draft pick in 2009 out of University of Pittsburgh and signed a free agent deal with the Philadelphia 76ers before his season with the Pacers. Young has averages of nearly six points and two rebounds per game over four seasons.
Ken McDonald has been hired as head coach of the Austin Toros. Per club policy, terms of the contract were not announced.
McDonald served as an assistant last season for the Toros under head coach Taylor Jenkins, where he helped lead the team to a 27-23 overall record and to the semifinals of the 2013 NBA D-League Playoffs.
Prior to the Toros, McDonald served as head coach at Western Kentucky University from 2008-12 where he accumulated a 67-48 overall record.
Tony Parker still has scars about how the close the San Antonio Spurs were to winning his fourth NBA championship -- most notably the Game 6 collapse that was capped by Ray Allen's three-pointer to send the game into overtime.
The Miami Heat ended up winning Game 6 and capturing the title in Game 7.
"I was lucky enough to win three times already," Parker said. "It's obviously going to hurt until I die. I'll be 95 years old and dying, and I'll be like, 'Oh, Game 6.' That's life."
Parker does not believe the Spurs' championship window has closed, and he applauds their offseason acquisitions.
"The signing of Marco Belinelli is a great signing for us," Parker said. "Pop is going to do a great job of resting me, Manu and Tim during the season. We have those young guys -- Danny Green, Kawhi Leonard -- getting better and better.
"So I think we're going to have a great chance to do it again next year. That's what you want as a basketball player, to have that opportunity to try to win it. You don't win it every year but you try to have the opportunity, and that's what we have with the Spurs."
Jeff Pendergraph is changing his last name to Ayres as he begins a two-year contract with the San Antonio Spurs.
Ayres is the family name of his biological father.
Ayres had taken the surname of a stepfather who hasn't been in his life since he was in high school.
“I didn't know who my dad was until I was a senior in high school,” Jeff Ayres said Wednesday.
Ayres was born Jeff Orcutt, using the maiden name of his mother.
Not knowing who his biological father was, Ayres dreamed he was someone famous such as Denzel Washington or Shaquille O'Neal.
“It turns out it was a mechanic named James,” Ayres said.
Sean Marks will move to the San Antonio Spurs' bench to complete Gregg Popovich's coaching staff.
Marks has worked in the Spurs' front office over the past two seasons.
The Spurs also hired Jim Boylen, losing Mike Budenholzer and Brett Bowen to the Atlanta Hawks and Philadelphia 76ers, respectively.
Marks was part of the Spurs' championship team in 2005.
Sam Young has met with the San Antonio Spurs.
The Spurs lack frontcourt depth following the departure of DeJuan Blair.
Young played with the Indiana Pacers last season.
The San Antonio Spurs will hire Dave Telep for a scouting coordinator role for the NBA Draft under R.C. Buford.
Telep recently left his position as a prep recruiting analyst for ESPN.
Telep has strong relationships in the high school and college basketball ranks.
