Wanted: Raptors' Missing Points?

Nov 26, 2006 4:54 AM

In one of the most intriguing stories of the year, did the official scorer at the Hawks-Raptors game on November 24 potentially alter the outcome of the game?

Some Raptors fans on the RealGM Raptors forum are saying yes, and after reviewing the video evidence they may have a point.

It appears that Raptors guard TJ Ford made a layup which was never actually counted, meaning a four point Hawks lead late in the game was actually two points, which could have changed the way the Raptors played out the games' final possessions.

Forum member "webeye" broken down the sequence within the Raptors' game thread.

It was 85-78 Hawks.

Joe Johnson finally hit a free throw, and they gave a point to the Raptors. Scoreboard: 85-79. Should be 86-78.

TJ runs down and hits a circus shot layup with 4:33 remaining in the 4th. But the scorekeepers take a point away from Toronto. Scoreboard: 85-78. Should be 86-80.

The scorekeepers confer, and give Atlanta their missing point for JJ's free throw. Scoreboard: 86-78. Should be 86-80.

Lue hits a shot, and we're back to business as usual. Scoreboard: 88-78. Should be 88-80.

And that's it. The missing 2 points never return.

Footage of the incident can be seen on YouTube.

Bosh Will Play In Pain

Nov 25, 2006 6:02 PM

Despite being injured in various ways all season, first with a sore left heel, and now a sore knee, Chris Bosh will continue to play.

"I don't know what it is," he said yesterday, following the team's morning shootaround at Philips Arena. "But there's no swelling, that's the good thing about it."

Only a risk of further damage to the knee will keep Bosh on the sidelines.

"It's not hindering anything, so that's the good thing. It's just sore," he said. "But I ain't no little girl. I'm a player.

"We're trying to make the playoffs. Ain't got to time to sit out now."

Mitchell's Wife And Mother-In-Law Host Thanksgiving For The Raptors

Nov 24, 2006 1:50 PM

Sam Mitchell's wife and mother-in-law were host to the Raptors' 25-member travelling party as well as friends and family for a total of 50 or so at Mitchell's house in suburban Atlanta on Thursday.  Spirits were high amongst the Raptors' players as they snapped a six-game losing streak on Wednesday.

"Any time you win a game, guys feel better, feel a little more confident," said Mitchell. "Any time you hold a team like [Cleveland] to 12 points [in the fourth quarter], there's not much you can say."

Bosh: "Everybody Just Wants To Win So Bad"

Nov 21, 2006 11:19 PM

The Raptors return home from a five-game road trip without a single win.  Last season, they began the 2005-2006 campaign with a record of 1-9, compared to this year's 2-8 start.

"It's not close," said Chris Bosh, comparing last season to this. "I think last year we really got down on ourselves. This year, we're not getting down on ourselves."

"I think we just get nervous, just get nervous and uptight, because everybody just wants to win so bad," Chris Bosh said.

I Got A Raw Deal In T.O.: Araujo

Nov 21, 2006 4:33 AM

Rafael Araujo, who got a rough ride from fans in Toronto in two seasons of spotty play, is being treated normally by fans of the Utah Jazz, primarily because they know him, the ex-Brigham Young Cougar said.

"The fans (in Toronto) didn't know what I can do," Araujo said yesterday. "Here they know what I can do. I was a good player, I've been a good player and I just didn't have the right fair chance."

Araujo wouldn't bite when asked to expand on his opinion he didn't get a fair chance with the Raptors.

"I did my best there, I worked hard for two years," he said. "The coaching staff and the director (general manager) part, I couldn't control that."
