Chandler Parsons Likely Out For Season With Torn Meniscus In Left Knee

Mar 13, 2017 7:37 PM

Chandler Parsons has been diagnosed with a partial tear of the meniscus in his left knee.

Parsons will be out indefinitely as the team fully evaluates the appropriate course of action. Ronald Tillery of the Memphis Commercial Appeal expects Parsons to be out for the remainder of the season.

“To suffer a setback like this after working so diligently to rebound from the injury to his right knee is obviously tough. That said, we know he will continue to work tirelessly to return to the court with his teammates and contribute,” General Manager Chris Wallace said. “Chandler has the full support of myself, Coach Fizz and the entire team and we are all focused on getting him healthy.”

Chandler Parsons: It's Very Early To Judge Value Of Deal With Grizzlies

Mar 5, 2017 12:40 PM

Chandler Parsons has battled injuries and ineffectiveness in the first season of a four-year, $94 million contract with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Parsons was asked if he believes the Grizzlies will ultimately get their money's worth out of his contract.

"I think so. I think we’re five months into a four-year contract. I think it’s a little dramatic and a little early to judge someone coming off two very serious surgeries, in a new city, on a new team, a new everything. It's very early to judge that. The upper management, when I talk to Chris Wallace, when I talk to Joe Abadi, those guys tell me, “Look, we brought you here for four years.”

Parsons was asked if his issues could be mental or if there's still a big physical element.

"I’m physically in pain. I’m well enough to play, obviously, but I’m going to go through soreness. The good thing is I’ve been through this already and it’s nothing I’m not used to. And I know my body better now. But, yeah, I think a lot of it is mental. Nobody wants to play well more than I do. I know a lot of people are getting frustrated and, trust me, they’re not more frustrated than I am. I’m in the gym every single day. The worst part is, when you have surgeries like this, this summer I could work on my body, I could work on my strength, I could work on my conditioning, but I couldn’t really work on my game, so now I’m basically working on my game in NBA games and it’s showing. I’m missing a lot of shots, I’m missing shots that I usually make."
