Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld announced today that the team has signed guard Shaun Livingston to a ten-day contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not announced.
A former ?Mr. Basketball? in Illinois (2003-04), Livingston led Peoria Central High (Peoria, IL) to Class AA state titles in 2003 and 2004 before jumping straight to the NBA as the L.A. Clippers? first-round pick (fourth overall) in the 2004 NBA Draft. Livingston has appeared in 167 games (61 starts) in parts of five seasons in the NBA, compiling career averages of 6.9 points, 3.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game. He most recently appeared in 10 games this season for the Oklahoma City Thunder and also played briefly for the NBA D-League?s Tulsa 66ers in 2008-09. Livingston was enjoying his best professional season as a member of the Clippers in 2006-07 (9.3 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 5.1 apg, .463 fg% in 29.8 mpg) before sustaining a season-ending knee injury on February 26 that kept him out of action for the duration of the 2007-08 season.

Washington Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld announced today that the team has waived center Zydrunas Ilgauskas after coming to a mutual agreement on a contract buyout.
?We agreed to terms with Zydrunas on a contract buyout, giving us further financial flexibility and allowing our young big men to continue to develop over the remainder of the season,? said Grunfeld.
Ilgauskas was originally acquired from the Cleveland Cavaliers along with a 2010 first round pick and the rights to Emir Preldzic as part of a three-team deal in which they also acquired Al Thornton from the Los Angeles Clippers while sending Antawn Jamison to Cleveland and Drew Gooden to Los Angeles (the Clippers sent Sebastian Telfair to Cleveland to complete the trade).
Media reports have stated that Ilgauskas accepted a reduction of $1.5 million in order to be released.
Ilgauskas would be free to sign with the Cavaliers on March 21st.
Zydrunas Ilgauskas and the Washington Wizards agreed to a buyout Wednesday evening, according to a league source.
The buyout will save the Wizards just over $1M, according to Michael Lee's report.
Ilgauskas is expected to sign with the Cavaliers 30 days after the date he was traded, but he will also receive offers from Atlanta, Denver and Dallas, according to Lee.
Brian Windhorst reports that he'll especially listen to offers from the Nuggets and Mavericks.
Zydrunas Ilgauskas is just a signature away from receiving a buyout with the Wizards, a source has told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher.
Indications are that Ilgauskas will receive around $9-$10 million of his $11 million salary.
After Ilgauskas clears waivers, which will take 48 hours, the veteran center will be able to sign with any NBA team other than the Cavaliers.
Cleveland, who traded him to Washington last week, cannot re-sign Ilgauskas until 30 days from the day he was traded.
Sources says that the Celtics, Hawks and Nuggets are interested in signing the center.
Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld announced today that the team has signed forward Mike Harris to a ten-day contract.
Harris (6-6, 235 lbs.) averaged 26.3 points and 9.8 rebounds per game in 28 games (25 starts) for the NBA D-League?s Rio Grande Valley Vipers prior to becoming the 15th call-up this season. This is Harris? second call-up of 2009-10, as he previously averaged 2.5 points and 1.5 rebounds in two games played with the Houston Rockets. Harris has averaged 3.5 points and 3.0 rebounds per game in 19 career NBA games (all with Houston).
Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld announced today that guard/forward Josh Howard has a torn ACL in his left knee and will miss the remainder of the 2010-11 season. Howard suffered the injury in last night?s game vs. Chicago at the 4:23 mark of the first quarter.
In four games (three starts) for Washington this season, Howard averaged 14.5 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. No timetable has been announced for Howard?s recovery.
An official within the league told The Associated Press on Monday the NBA has not threatened to stop a potential reunion between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Zydrunas Ilgauskas.
The Los Angeles Times quoted an unnamed source Sunday saying the NBA had told other teams it wouldn't let Ilgauskas go back to the Cavs. However, the official told the AP the league would only step in if there was proof of an agreement before the trade was completed.
Wizards forward Josh Howard strained his left knee in the team's victory over the Bulls on Monday night.
Howard collided with Chicago's Flip Murray while trying to catch an outlet pass with 4:23 left in the first quarter.
He fell to the floor and had to be helped up as he favored his left knee.
Washington acquired Howard from Dallas on Feb. 13 in a seven-player trade.
Zydrunas Ilgauskas could officially reach a buyout agreement with the Wizards within the next couple of days, the center's agent told Yahoo! Sports.
Agent Herb Rudoy said he is "hopeful" that a buyout would be completed by "Monday or Tuesday," after having discussions with Washington general manager Ernie Grunfeld over the weekend.
The Los Angeles Times reported the NBA has told teams the center won't be allowed to return to the Cavaliers, based on evidence there was a prearranged deal.
Players have to wait 30 days before re-signing with the team that just traded them.
The Hawks didn't swing a deal prior to Thursday's NBA trade deadline, but that doesn't mean they are done tweaking their roster.
They could alter their original plan to keep the roster at the league minimum of 13 players and consider signing veterans that are bought out by the end of this month.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Hawks like center Zydrunas Ilgauskas, who is expected to receive a buyout from the Wizards.
The center's agent, Herb Rudoy, says the Hawks are among the teams Ilgauskas would consider.
"We like our core guys," general manager Rick Sund said.
"I think we are positioned pretty well. We will learn some more [about the team] going forward in the last month-and-a-half and the playoffs."
