Blatche Takes Shot At Wizards

Nov 26, 2012 9:33 PM

Andray Blatche took a subtle shot against his former team, the Washington Wizards, before Monday’s inner-city battle with the Knicks.

Blatche was amnestied in July by the Wizards and subsequently signed with the Brooklyn Nets.

Blatche asked reporters who were the top three teams in the Eastern Conference before tip-off. When told the top three teams were Miami, New York and Brooklyn, Blatche said he hadn’t been on a team ranked that high since high school.

Blatche followed with a verbal jab at the Wizards.

“Anybody seen how the Wizards are doing?” said Blatche.

Washington fell to 0-12 on the season with their loss on Monday to the Spurs.

Nene Didn't Aggravate Plantar Fasciitis In Extended Minutes

Nov 26, 2012 10:50 AM

Nene didn’t aggravate the plantar fasciitis in his left foot while scoring 19 points against the Bobcats on Saturday, but he was noticeably fatigued late in the game. Nene played a surprising 29 minutes in the game, as he has been limited to 20 minutes previously.

Nene sat out the Washington Wizards' light practice on Sunday.

Nene returned a few weeks earlier than expected, but doesn't feel forced back due to the Wizards' struggles.

“Pressure? All the players have pressure. There’s not pressure on me,” Nene said. “I just got back, and I try to do my best.”

Nene is expected to play on Monday against the Spurs.

Beal Comprares Wizards' 0-11 Start To 'Depression'

Nov 25, 2012 11:23 AM

The Washington Wizards are 0-11 after a 106-108 double overtime loss to the Bobcats on Saturday.

The Wizards started last season 2-15, costing Flip Saunders his job in the process.

“We just lost. Everybody hates losing. You just see the guys faces, it’s like depression. We haven’t won a game yet,” Bradley Beal said. “We still have [71] more games. It’s still a long season. We still have our opportunity to get over .500. Right now, it’s our goal we have to shoot for, is to probably get into the playoffs. We’re going to make it. I have faith in this team. I have confidence in us. I think we’re more than capable of doing it, with the assets that we have. As long as guys keep buying in and never give up, we’ll be fine.”

“You can’t get any closer than we’ve been getting,” Jordan Crawford said.

Beal said Randy Wittman is not the reason why the team remains winless.

“As much as he wants to take credit for it, the game is in our hands. He’s not the one to blame; it’s us. That just shows his leadership. I even blame myself. I had an opportunity to sieze the game and I didn’t. Coach Witt, we’re all buying into him. We love him to death. He wants the best for us.”

Wizards 'Don't Have Strategy Right Now'

Nov 20, 2012 11:37 AM

The Washington Wizards have started disastrously this season.

“We don’t have a strategy right now. We’re 0-9,” said Jordan Crawford. “We need to go with what works, and the second group was working. They got us back in the game, and I’m proud of them.”

No player on the Wizards shot better than 50 percent in their 89-96 loss to the Pacers on Monday.

“I’m playing 12 and 13 every night. You can’t do that in an NBA game,” Randy Wittman said. “You want want to develop a [starting] group and then a group that comes in. I’m having a hard time doing that with the play we’re having.”

Jannero Pargo Receiving Interest From Bulls, Among Other Teams

Nov 16, 2012 8:29 PM

After being waived by the Washington Wizards, Jannero Pargo has received interest from a number of teams, agent Mark Bartelstein told RealGM on Friday.

The Chicago Bulls are among the teams that have already reached out to Pargo, and the two parties plan to talk in the coming days, as his representatives will do with other interested teams.

“We’ll talk, so we’ll see,” Bartelstein said by phone.

Before Washington signed him on Oct. 1, Pargo nearly landed with his hometown Bulls. He has spent four of his nine NBA seasons in Chicago and still maintains a healthy relationship with the Bulls’ organization.

The Wizards cut Pargo on Thursday to open a roster spot for the 6-foot-7 Shaun Livingston, relieving their logjam of smaller point guards.

Pargo, 33, averaged three points and two assists in seven games for the Wizards this season. He’s a career 35 percent three-point shooter and can still provide an effective, yet streaky outside presence.
