Warriors, Bulls, Clippers, Wizards, Bobcats, Hornets, Sonics/Thunder Have Never Paid Luxury Tax

Jul 26, 2012 12:02 PM

There are seven NBA teams that have never had a luxury tax payment since it came into existence with the 1999 collective bargaining agreement.

The Bulls, Warriors, Clippers, Wizards, Bobcats, Hornets and Sonics/Thunder have always been on the receiving end of tax distributions.

While the Clippers, Wizards and Hornets have taken on salary during the 2012 offseason and the Thunder face tax issues if James Harden and Serge Ibaka are signed to new deals, the Bulls and Warriors continue to be tax conscious in their decision-making.

Golden State has just one playoff appearance over that stretch.

Tomas Satoransky has played on the Wizards' Summer League team, but is expected to remain in Europe for the 12-13 season.

Satoransky has played backup point guard the last three seasons with Cajasol Sevilla of the top-level Spanish league ACB.

“I was drafted really high for me, for my expectation. I came here to show them and give them something back and also to get experience for my next seasons, whether or not it’s going to be in the NBA or Spain,” Satoransky said last week in Las Vegas. “Right now, I count more on to stay in Europe. That’s what they say after the draft. So I will just wait after the summer league and we will see..”

The Wizards have decided to use their amnesty provision on Andray Blatche.

Blatche has $23 million remaining on his contract.

"Andray did not figure into our future plans, and using the amnesty provision is a mutually beneficial opportunity for us to part ways," said Ernie Grunfeld. “We will be able to continue to develop our core group of young players, blend in the solid veterans we have acquired and maintain financial flexibility while Andray will be able to get a fresh start with another team. We wish him the best moving forward."
