May 31, 2013 11:53 AM

The Washington Wizards hold three selections in the upcoming NBA draft – the No. 3 pick overall and two picks in the second round.

Ernie Grunfeld and Randy Wittman have indicated they would like to explore dealing at least one pick, maybe both in the second round, in a package for a veteran.

The Wizards plan to bring in mostly second-round prospects for individual workouts starting Monday.

Grunfeld Believes This Is A Three Player Draft, Won't Rule Out Trade For Wizards

May 24, 2013 11:41 AM

Ernie Grunfeld believes there's talent beyond the top two picks in the upcoming draft.

"Well, I think it’s a three-player draft," Grunfeld said, when told the draft is being described as top heavy, with the top two players being Nerlens Noel and Ben McLemore. "But I won’t tell you who that third player is."

Grunfeld seemed to suggest the Wizards already have a player in mind.

"Obviously we've been going through this process already, but the process will continue," he said. "And as I said before, we feel good about the player that’s probably going to be available to us at that spot."

Grunfeld wouldn’t rule out the possibility of trading the No. 3 pick.

"Well, I think everything is on the table," he said. "We feel good about where we are, we think we’ll get a nice player, but you never say never to anything."

Wittman: Jan Vesely 'Needs To Work On His Head'

May 13, 2013 5:02 PM

Jan Vesely's lack of confidence in his sophomore season in the NBA this year was evident to teammates and coaches on the Washington Wizards, stemming from his regression in production.

In Randy Wittman's mind, it is clear what Vesely must fix in the offseason.

“He needs to work on his head first,” Wittman said.

“I was thinking, ‘You’re not going to get away with it,’" A.J. Price said of Vesely's lack of confidence.

Vesely regressed in every statistical category and barely finished with more points (126) and rebounds (122) than personal fouls (107).

“It’s hard. Especially after my first season in the NBA, I was playing a lot. It’s hard not to find my position on the team and stay ready every game when you’re not playing,” Vesely said. “I just try to fight it. I didn’t know what time, when I’m going on the court so it’s hard to stay ready. I did my best, and I tried to work hard every day.”
