Bradley Beal: Nobody Can Stop Me

Oct 31, 2015 10:07 AM

Bradley Beal scored 14 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter of the Washington Wizards' comeback win on Friday over the Milwaukee Bucks.

“Nobody can stop me,” Beal declared in an on-court postgame television interview. “Plain and simple.”

“We have the same agent. I was telling my agent, ‘I didn’t know he was that explosive,’ ” Jared Dudley said. “You can just see that confidence. It’s his fourth year, contract year, worked hard, worked his butt off, he’s growing into his body. To be honest with you, John [Wall] is our best player but he’s our best scorer. When he’s shooting the ball aggressive we’re a better team.”

Martell Webster May Need Season-Ending Surgery On Hip

Oct 28, 2015 1:26 PM

Martell Webster may need to undergo season-ending surgery on his hip.

Webster had his first full practice on Tuesday and made it through pain-free but took one final shot and discomfort returned.

It has been determined that a bone spur is causing the constant aggravation in his right hip.

"When it gets to the point that nothing's happening, the hip's not getting better ... I don't know just go back to the drawing board and see if surgery is the best solution after exhausting all avenues," Webster said Wednesday from the floor of Amway Center.

Webster is in the final fully guaranteed season of his contract.

Alan Anderson Undergoes Surgery On Left Ankle

Oct 13, 2015 8:27 PM

Alan Anderson had successful surgery to remove a small bony fragment in his left ankle.

Anderson underwent left ankle surgery in May to remove bone spurs and was still experiencing pain caused by irritation from the fragment.

The procedure was performed by Dr. David Porter at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.  Anderson will begin the rehab process immediately, but a timeframe for his return has yet to be determined.

The Washington Wizards signed Anderson on July 12 after he spent the 2014-15 season with Brooklyn. In 74 games (19 starts) with the Nets, he averaged 7.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists while shooting .443 from the field and .348 from three-point range.

John Wall: My Goal Is To Be NBA's No. 1 Point Guard

Oct 11, 2015 12:31 PM

John Wall has improved every year and has risen up the NBA's list of point guards.

Wall was a starter in the All-Star Game last season and ranks fourth among point guards in his NBA 2K16 rating, for what that's worth.

“My goal is to be number one,” Wall said. “There’s a lot of great talent in this league, so it’s great to move up. Each year I move up, that means I’ve improved. And now I want to move up even more. I don’t want to be satisfied with where I’m at. I want to keep going up, and if I keep getting better, that means I’m bringing my team up with me and we can keep improving and we know what our ultimate goal is."

The Wizards also hope to pursue Kevin Durant in free agency in 2016.

“We’re not trying to throw anything away,” he said. “I’m not trying to waste my sixth year on nothing. I’m trying to get to where I want to be. Everybody thinks we can’t win if we don’t have Kevin. Well, you can win because you have John Wall.”

Kris Humphries Adapting To Become Stretch-4

Oct 8, 2015 9:31 PM

Kris Humphries is adjusting to a new part of his career as a stretch-4.

Humphries has been a midrange jumper specialist to a three-point shooter.

“I got to be in better shape, to take what I showed I do last year and then add the three-ball to it,” said Humphries, who was in the starting lineup Tuesday. “You’re further out, so as far as offensive rebounding, that’s a run in and a run out. And then you’re running back and then you got to set your feet and have your breath together and shoot it. It’s different. I’m still getting used to it.”

Humphries went 2-for-26 from three-point range over his first 11 NBA seasons.

“I haven’t really worked on shooting threes, like really worked on it, ever,” Humphries, 30, said. “Other than maybe college and stuff but that’s a close three. Now I’ve got to adapt to what we’re trying to do and get in better shape.”

Gilbert Arenas, Javaris Crittenton Dispute Was Over $1,100

Oct 7, 2015 3:28 PM

Caron Butler writes an account in his new book about the gun incident involving Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton in December of 2009.

Arenas lost $1,100 to Crittenton in a card game on a flight back to Washington, but tried to get out of paying him. Arenas had an $111 million contract at the time.

“I ain’t putting [expletive] back,” Arenas said to Crittenton. “Get it the way Tyson got the title. Might or fight or whatever you got to do to get your money back. Otherwise, you ain’t gettin’ it.”

Arenas and Crittenton continued to argue even after the flight landed.

“I’ll see your [expletive] at practice and you know what I do,” Arenas said.

“What the [expletive] you mean, you know what I do?” replied Crittenton.

“I play with guns.”

“Well I play with guns, too.”

Before practice the next day, Arenas confronted Crittenton.

“Hey, MF, come pick one,” Arenas told Crittenton while pointing to the weapons on the chair of his locker. “I’m going to shoot your [expletive] with one of these.”

“Oh no, you don’t need to shoot me with one of those,” said Crittenton, turning around slowly like a gunslinger in the Old West. “I’ve got one right here.”

Butler was able to get Crittenton to stop pointing the gun at Arenas and diffuse the situation.

Arenas' suspension cost him $7.5 million in salary.
