Providence defeated Creighton 65-58 to win the 2014 Big East Tournament.

Bryce Cotton was named Tournament MVP and was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Doug McDermott, Austin Chatman, LaDontae Henton, Gene Teague and Semaj Christon.

Doug McDermott Headlines Big East Awards

Doug McDermott of Creighton has been named Big East Player of the Year.

McDermott was joined on the All-Big East First Team by James Bell, Semaj Christon, Bryce Cotton, D'Angelo Harrison and Markel Starks.

On the All-Big East Second Team are Kadeem Batts, Kellen Dunham, Fuquan Edwin, Davante Gardner, Jayvaughn Pinkston and D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera.

Edwin was also named Big East Defensive Player of the Year, while Billy Garrett received Rookie of the Year honors.

Oklahoma State Receives Commitment From Jared Terrell

Jared Terrell has committed to Oklahoma State.

Terrell is a big-bodied shooting guard that chose the Cowboys over Cincinnati, Providence and Rhode Island.

Terrell is ranked 63rd overall by Rivals.

Abdul-Malik Abu has committed to N.C. State, picking the Wolfpack over UConn, Florida and Providence.

Abu is a 6'8 forward ranked in the top-50 in the class of 2014.

Providence Gets Commitment From Paschal Chukwu

Providence secured a commitment from 7-foot center Paschal Chukwu.

Chukwu chose the Friars over a host of schools, including St. Joseph.

Chukwu is regarded as a top-70 player in the 2014 class.

Kaleb Joseph Cuts List To Providence, Syracuse, West Virginia

Kaleb Joseph has cut his list of schools to Providence, Syracuse and West Virginia.

Joseph is ranked 51st overall and No. 10 amongst point guards for the Class of 2014.

“Throughout the whole recruiting process, those three schools stood out the most and made it known that I was a priority for them since Day One,” Joseph said.
