Otto Porter Headlines Big East Awards

Georgetown's Otto Porter has been named the 2013 Big East Player of the Year. Porter is the first player from the Hoyas to win the Big East's top honor since Jeff Green in 2007.

Joining Porter on the All-Big East First Team are Notre Dame's Jack Cooley, Bryce Cotton of Providence, Louisville's Gorgui Dieng and Russ Smith, and UConn's Shabazz Napier.

Dieng was also named Defensive Player of the Year, while St. John's Jakarr Sampson was named Rookie of the Year.

Austin Colbert Commits To Illinois

Austin Colbert has committed to Illinois. 

Colbert is a top-100 recruit in the class of 2013.

Colbert, a 6-9 power forward, also considered Miami, Seton Hall and Villanova.

Villanova Receives Commitment From Josh Hart

Villanova receives a commitment from Josh Hart, a 6-foot-4 swingman from Sidwell Friends High School in Washington.

“What made Villanova stand out was what they were offering me off the court, as far as developing me into a man,” Hart said. “Coach [Jay] Wright is a sharp guy, and with the way they presented themselves and laid out their plan for me, I couldn’t say no.”

Hart garnered attention from Georgetown, Richmond, Rutgers and Penn State.

Harrison Twins Narrow List To Three

Andrew and Aaron Harrison have narrowed their focus to Kentucky and Maryland, while SMU is in a distant third.

The Harrisons have eliminated Baylor and Villanova from consideration and plan to make a decision in late October.

Harrison Twins Set In-Home Visits With Five Finalists

Aaron and Andrew Harrison will host SMU, Kentucky, Villanova, Maryland and Baylor for in-home visits.

On Saturday the twins held a conference call with family members to discuss the five finalists they are seriously considering.

"We have a good feel for the schools, but now with the home visits we can confirm what we know from our talks and family meeting," said Aaron Harrison, father of the twins.

Kris Jenkins Commits To Villanova

Kris Jenkins verbally committed to Villanova after taking an official visit to the school on Sunday.

“I just felt like coach (Jay) Wright and his staff has presented me with an opportunity and a plan that I couldn’t turn down,” Jenkins said. “I’m really excited. It’s another big chapter in my life, and I’m looking forward to another challenge just to show everybody that I can just play the game of basketball.”

A top-75 recruit in the 2013 class, Jenkins chose the Wildcats over Clemson, Miami, Xavier and Rutgers.

Harrison Brothers To Announce Decision On Oct. 29

Andrew Harrison and Aaron Harrison plan on announcing their college choice on October 29th.

The Harrison brothers are each top-five recruits in the 2013 incoming class.

The Harrisons are considering Baylor, Kentucky, Maryland, Villanova and SMU.
