Trey Burke has been named the Big Ten Player of the Year, winning both the award voted upon by the Coaches and Media.
Burke was joined on the All-Big Ten First team (Coaches) by teammate Tim Hardaway Jr., Ohio State's Deshaun Thomas, and Victor Oladipo and Cody Zeller of Indiana.
On the All-Big Ten Second Team by Michigan State's Keith Appling, Gary Harris and Adreian Payne, Ohio State's Aaron Craft and Wisconsin's Jared Berggren.
Oladipo won Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, while Harris won Freshman Player of the Year.
JaQuan Lyle has received offers from N.C. State and Iowa.
“With the summer that this young man has had, coaches continue to call and be very impressed with every aspect of his game,” Lyle’s High School coach Shane Burkhart said. “JaQuan must continue to build respect on and off the court and remember that none of this will mean a thing if he doesn’t continue to mature as a young man. We are very proud of all his efforts on the court this summer.”
A 6-foot-4 combo guard, the 16-year-old Lyle moved “up a class” for Spiece Indy Heat’s 17-and-under AAU team.
Lyle has offers from Indiana University, Purdue, Illinois, Xavier, Michigan State, Ohio State, Louisville, Kansas State, Providence, Southern Methodist, Georgetown and Texas.
