New Mexico State defeated Louisiana Tech by a final score of 82-57 to win the 2012 WAC Tournament. Scoring 27 points with 14 rebounds in the title game, Wendell McKines was named Tournament MVP. New Mexico State also won the WAC Tournament in 2010. Joining McKines on the All-Tournament Team is teammates Tyrone Watson and Hernst Laroche, and Louisiana Tech's Trevor Gaskins and Raheem Appleby. Deonte Burton of Nevada has been named the 2012 WAC Player of the Year. Burton was Freshman of the Year last season. Joining Burton on the All-Conference First Team is teammate Olek Czyz, Hawaii's Vander Joaquim, Wendell McKines of New Mexico State and Utah State's Preston Medlin. On the All-Conference Second Team is Nevada's Dario Hunt, Louisiana Tech's Raheem Appleby, Hernst Laroche of New Mexico State and Kevin Olekaibe of Fresno State. Appleby was also named Freshman of the Year. Receiving Honorable Mention votes were Nevada's Malik Story, New Mexico State's Hamidu Rahman, Utah State's Brockeith Pane, Zane Johnson of Hawaii, Idaho's Deremy Geiger and Trevor Gaskins of Louisiana Tech.
