Stephenson Signs With Cincinnati

Lance Stephenson, one of the best wings in the country and the final major incoming freshman without a college, has signed a financial aid agreement with Cincinnati and will join the team for the 2009-10 season.

"We are very excited about Lance's decision to become a Bearcat," Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin said in a school statement. "Lance has terrific talent as a basketball player, and is also a fierce competitor on the court. His desire to win will help us compete for a Big East Championship.

"As a big guard, Lance brings playmaking ability and versatility to our team, along with his talent for scoring. We look forward to getting Lance here for summer school and building our team for the upcoming season."

Coach K: I Will Never Coach The Lakers

Mike Krzyzewski has been linked to the Lakers head coaching job multiple times since 204 and again denied the possibility on Tuesday.

"I'm not going to the Lakers. They have one of the great coaches in the game," Krzyzewski said. "I don't know where that rumor started, but there has been nothing done like that, and I'm not leaving Duke. Whatever you hear about anything like that, I will never leave Duke until I leave coaching."

USC Hires O'Neill To Replace Floyd

Former Marquette and Toronto Raptors basketball coach Kevin O?Neill has been hired at USC, according to an Associated Press report.

The school made the announcement Saturday, less than two weeks after Tim Floyd suddenly resigned amid allegations of improper payments.

Memphis is the ?clear-cut leader at this point? for Lance Stephenson according to a source close familiar with the situation.

Stephenson?s interest in Arizona has dwindled recently, according to the source.

Stephenson, a 6-6 McDonald?s All-American, is the lone player among the ESPN?s Top 100 recruits yet to commit to a college.

Sources confirmed on Wednesday that Maryland will no longer be courting Stephenson.

Former NBA coaches P.J. Carlesimo and Reggie Theus are reportedly high on USC's list of coaching candidates.

It was reported on Wednesday that USC is looking for a coach with professional experience.

Lakers assistant Jim Cleamons has already had an interview with the school, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Harangody To Return To Irish

Luke Harangody has decided to return for his senior season with Notre Dame, according to an ESPN.com report.

As of midday Monday, Irish coach Mike Brey still didn't know which way Harangody was leaning. But an hour before the 5 p.m. ET deadline, Harangody told Brey he was returning to school. Brey said in a text simply: "Gody to return!"

Brey said he would have supported Harangody, no matter what his decision, but is thrilled he will return.

Saint Mary's Mills Staying In NBA Draft

Saint Mary's head coach Randy Bennett waited until the final minutes of the deadline Monday afternoon when he finally got word that Patty Mills was staying in the June 25 draft, according to an ESPN.com report.

Mills went to the Reebok Eurocamp last week in Treviso, Italy where he shined well enough to warrant staying in the draft.

Bennet cited Mills' work ethic and pasion for the game in a statement, saying he will flourish as a professional.

USC's Gibson To Remain In Draft Pool

USC forward Taj Gibson is keeping his name in the NBA Draft and forgoing his final season of eligibility.

Gibson confirmed his decision to ESPN via Twitter on Monday.

He averaged 14.3 points and 9.0 rebounds per game for the Trojans last season.

Gibson will be represented by agent Aaron Mintz.

Greivis Vasquez is returning to Maryland for his senior season.

Gary Williams repeatedly pleaded for Vasquez to forgo the NBA Draft and that his stock would be higher in 2010.

"He makes us pretty good,'' Williams said Monday afternoon, a few hours before the 5 p.m. ET deadline to withdraw from the NBA draft. "He's a competitive guy and when he was playing well against other point guards in workouts it was hard to see them projected ahead of him in the draft."

UConn's Calhoun Hospitalized After Collapsing

Connecticut coach Jim Calhoun was recuperating at a hospital on Saturday after he collapsed following a fall in a charity bike ride.

He broke five ribs during the fall, and was set to be released on Sunday.

Calhoun said he hit a pothole and fell with about 16 miles to go in the 50-mile ride. He finished the ride, but moments after he collapsed.

"We have one-word descriptions for conditions, and it doesn't get any better than 'Good'," hospital spokesman Maureen McGuire told the Hartford Courant. "He's healthy. He's feeling great, his spirits are great."
